Yeah, it was a regular release. Varese actually sent me a copy by accident when it first came out. I went to check the mail and there they were: two packages from Varese, with my name and address on them. I thought I might've won a contest or something. I opened the first package. Stripes? The receipt in the package had someone with my name listed, but a different address. I immediately contacted them and they let me keep it, but also had me ship the second package back to them.
I don't like the score to Stripes and wound up selling it. I wish I'd opened the other one first.
Legendary. Two of the best American War movies and scores ever. Stripes is the best Military Comedy ever after Strangelove I think. That score did as much for my interest in film music in 81-82 as Star Wars, Trek, or Superman. Fantastic releases.
