DISAPPOINTMENT BLVD.---photo shows Joaquin Phoenix on the Montreal film set in the Ari Aster (MIDSOMMAR) movie. No plot details were released.

PREDATOR 5---co-producer John Davis commented on the prequel movie starring Native American actress Amber Midthunder as a female Comanche warrior who battles the Predator, “It goes back to what made the original PREDATOR movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force. It actually has more akin to THE REVENANT than it does any film in the PREDATOR canon. You’ll know what I mean once you see it. You can use your imagination. It is… early.”
He added, “It’s going to be, I believe, the second best — or the first… or it may be equal to the first one. Right? I feel like the first one was a wonderful, interesting movie and I know what worked about it. I feel like we kind of never got back there again. We ended up in different places. I think this is a worthy complement to the first one. It’s going to be as good.”

Davis also commented on the prequel's planned R-rating, “It could easily end up PG-13. I guess I’m going to find out what it has to be or what it is when it’s all cut together.”

THE SAINT---Rege-Jean Page (BRIDGERTON) will star in the Paramount Pictures reboot movie based on the tv series that starred Roger Moore.

DIE HARD 6---producer Lorenzo di Bonaventure said the sequel, titled McCLANE, has been cancelled due to the Walt Disney-20th Century Fox merger.

FAST & LOOSE---Will Smith stars in this Netflix action movie about a man who wakes up in Tijuana with amnesia and discovers he is an undercover CIA agent and crime lord. David Leitch is the director.

SAN ANDREAS 2---Alexandra Daddario commented on the status of the sequel to the 2015 Dwayne Johnson disaster movie, "It was mentioned to me several years ago when I went in to New Line. I don’t think that the exec that I was speaking to is there anymore. But they had a draft written. As far as I know, it’s not happening. It’s been a long time. I don’t think so. I think it was in development at one point, I should say. But that happens in Hollywood all the time."

TRIVIA---in REAR WINDOW, Alfred Hitchcock's cameo is with the songwriter, who was played by Ross Bagdasarian (Bagdasarian later achieved fame as David Seville of Alvin and the Chipmunks).
Kathryn Grant, later Mrs. Bing Crosby, was a guest at the songwriter's party.

A female Comanche warrior?
He ain't kidding when he says "use your imagination".

But, hey, the movie is about a big game hunter from outer space. So... why not?

we need a Predator 5 like we need another Terminator, or another Alien, or another Star Wars, or, well, lots of others, on other words, we don't need it

Thanks, Dragon53!

Trivial matter - a typo I'm sure, but it was "Alvin and the Chipmunks"...
Although that could have been an interesting TV show!

"Want a plane that loops the loop"...

"AALLFRED!!!"

Yes, but I think we can all agree that we hope the score is fashioned from traditional Native American elements like pounding drums and wailing native women.
big grin

Hmm.
Actually, when you think about it, that would be pretty cool.

I've liked most of the entirety of the Die Hard series. Regrettable that a new one got shelved.

The new PREDATOR sounds... like I'd have to see it. Nice to hear the confidence in the project, but we won't know until it hits.

I think it's a mercy that we're not getting Die Hard 6. 5 was god awful (& made way back in 2013).

So Native Americans will fight the Predator with bows and arrows and win. This has failure written all over it.

Predator 5 sounds like it has potential, with it being a prequel. I think that premise may give it a little bit of wiggle room.
The first one set a very high bar. The novelty of it is almost impossible to recapture; there was a synergy about it with the pacing, casting, directing, cinematography and score, making it one of those films that comes along in a lifetime.

I'm hoping they've focused on the elements that made Predator so great and don't bog it down with messages reflecting today's sensitivities.
Just give us great characters, solid story-telling and a great score.

Well we don't need any film. You don't want another Predator (or another Terminator, or another Star Wars, or another Alien or, well, a lot of others). But I kinda do. So bring it on.

The PREDATOR premise sounds kinda like APOCALYPTO. I think it's a cool idea, bring it on!

Well, that is how Schwarzenegger defeated the Predator in the original, isn't it? wink

I actually like the sound of this new Predator. The last two didn't do anything for me, so I like that they're going for a different, perhaps more artistic approach. What I did find funny was the producer claiming this was going to be better than the first one, then immediately realizing how that made him sound and what kind of expectations he was setting for the film and correcting, well, it's going to be as good as the first. That's a good compliment for the first film, right? But hey, at least the guy's got confidence and he didn't say, we're shooting for AVP: Requiem or better.

Thanks. I know it's "Alvin"----I don't why I typed "Alfred" instead.

Wouldn't it be cheaper if they just deep faked Amber's face over Arnold's? Ditto the supporting cast. I mean, it's just the same movie over and over again, after all. And a year later, the cast of Cheers. Kirstie Alley as the Predator.

True Schwarzenegger did kill the predator that way. I stand corrected.

This has Ghostbusters 2016 and Terminator: Dark Fate written all over it.
BTW this was already done as Cowboys vs Aliens.

Sure thing, Dragon53. Even with the typo, I still think it might've been an interesting idea.
