JOHN BARRY.

He's the man, the man with the Midas touch. For me.

PS, it's the most obvious question for this board and probably done a million times before, but yes, it hasn't been asked for a while, so why not.

Cheers

Bernard Herrmann. When I listen too my fav.. Psycho, its addictive-exciting-sombre because it has the full vocabulary that not many other scores have that is the exhibition of strings all the way through Psycho!

Herrmann was technically gifted just listen too Jason & the Argonauts that is practically an all wind instrument assemblage, he was also top-draw with symphony works, & a dab-hand using electronics!

& not forgetting the Hitchcock partnership that is undeniably the best that cinema ever witnessed!

Some favs..

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Jason & the Argonauts
The Ghost & Mrs Muir
Journey too the Centre of the Earth
The Egyptian
North By Northwest
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
Vertigo
Twilight Zone
Taxi Driver

Others that run Herrmann close. Goldsmith - Morricone - Schifrin - A. Newman - Rozsa - Barry - M. Steiner - Waxman - Williams!

I'd like too name more guys with so much greatness in projects, but that would take-up the page!

I must repeat that I would like Mademoiselle Faivre to post again, just so as I know that I'm not replying to a tin of cold meat.
