I am absolutely at a loss to think of another c-grade character getting passed off this many times. No one wants a Red Sonja movie really, we just want a new Conan (and a better one than the last one which was alternating between terrible and hilarious)

I will gladly take one. Cheers.

Pussy Island? That might be better than Candy Apple Island (which is full of apes).

Red Sonja is a bomb in the making.

It was a big mistake to make a Carl Kolchak weekly tv series. They should have continued making one tv movie a year.
Having a different monster attack Chicago every week ruined the show's credibility. A future tv movie should have had Kolchak working for a national newspaper and being assigned to investigate bizarre stories around the US and the world which would have given it a greater variety of settings and realism such as Jack the Ripper in London, a vampire in Transylvania, a missing ship in the Bermuda Triangle, a mummy in Egypt, etc.

I'm just glad that we got what we did. Some schumcks decided to give it a second go and we all know what mediocre show that resulted in.

However, the cancellation of the show in and of itself did not prevent the making of TV movies, or even a revival via a series of TV movies. On the other hand, knowing how easy it is for producers to gum up the works, I'd rather stick with those two classic television films and the very imperfect, but highly, highly enjoyable series.

As a youngster watching the series none of that bothered me. It was the "monster of the week" kinda show. I just saw the episode with the alligator-man. How anyone got thru filming that episode with a straight face it beyond me! That's Kolchak's Lost in Space Carrot-Man episode.

Still way, way better than an episode of John-Luck Pickard (or Undiscovery, for that matter).
