FRIDAY, JUNE 11 THE LORD OF THE RINGS---Warner Bros. is developing an animated prequel movie titled THE WAR OF ROHIRRIM which focuses on Helm Hammerhand, the ninth King Rohan and the battle in JRR Tolkien's novels. The movie will be a “companion piece” to Peter Jackson's movies with “story and artistic elements” from them. THE LORD OF THE RINGS co-writer Philippa Boyens will be the script consultant. Kenji Kamiyama is the director. ANDOR---Forest Whitaker is returning as Saw Gerrera in the Disney+ prequel to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. A rumor claims Ben Mendelsohn is also returning as Director Orson Callan Krennic. LOKI---the premiere drew 890,000 viewers in the US making it Disney+/Marvel's best premiere. INDIANA JONES 5---director James Mangold commented on the rumor that the sequel title is INDIANA JONES AND THE EVIL EMPIRE, "FALSE! The title will come later." Premiere is July 15. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4---Laurence Fishburne confirmed he is returning for the latest sequel, “I read the script. It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing… is really the heart and soul of it.” AQUAMAN---director James Wan said the sequel title is AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM. TWILIGHT OF THE GODS---Zack Snyder is developing an animated tv series based on Norse mythology, “It’s my take on Norse mythology and it’s really cool. We’re doing it with Digital Dimension who are doing the animation and it’s just going to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen,” says Snyder on the stream. “Because in animation, we can do anything we want which is so fun, and fun for all of us. As the creatives involved, we just can go nuts, and I think you’re going to love it.” The voice cast includes Lauren Cohan (THE WALKING DEAD) and Sylvia Hoeks (BLADE RUNNER 2049). TED---Peacock tv prequel series underway based on the Seth McFarlane movies. SHE-HULK---Jameela Jamil will play Titana. Sequels, prequels, spin offs... My head is going to explode! This new Star Wars pic is the first I've heard of a prequel to the prequel. I wouldn't necessarily mind the idea, but there is something a bit silly about seeing an actor who's ten years older than they were when they did the last one playing a version of their character who's supposed to be ten years younger than they were then. Very rarely have I seen de-aging technology used well in film. There's usually something distracting and uncanny valley-esque about it.
