interesting find on Youtube.
This scientist from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (the guys responsible for the last American rover/drone mission on Mars) is re-evaluating her view on the UFO phenomenon in the light of the last official statements and testimonies from the Pentagon and a couple airforce pilotes in 60 Minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6tDHZj5q5Q

Why does your post say she's a JPL scientist but the topic says she aint?

It's just bloody Fran from Fran Lab. She's an electronics engineer. I'm a subscriber of hers but I will rethink my subscription after this. I expected better.

I had her saved in my list of science channels I like to watch. This take from her was very disappointing.
Don't mean to come off to harsh on her here but her conclusions are seriously flawed and not scientific.

She said we finally have evidence. Just more of the same blurry out of focus lights in the sky we've gotten for 60 years. She even quoted Carl Sagan before saying such a fundamentally stupid thing.

On another Youtube video with some of the (alleged) Navy ship personal that saw the original recordings before they were whisked away by the Feds, the objects were very clear in the original videos, but "derezzed" for security reasons.

Yes, the blurry photos/videos have always been an annoyance.

I found it somewhat annoying that she asks for "Five minutes" at the start of the video, then goes on and on for twenty.
She did a follow-up video in which she addresses some of the comments she's received and I appreciate that. She never equated UFO with "Aliens", something rarely seen nowadays.
For me, stuff like this just makes it "clear as mud". I seem to become more cynical and jaded about it with each new startling revelation.
I want to believe we're being visited by beings from elsewhere out there. I just haven't seen enough evidence to convince me that we are.
Why would spaceships from another whatever need running lights?
How could they navigate zillions of miles thru space only to crash in Roswell?
Why do they have to materialize in people's bedrooms and levitate them thru their walls and up to their ships and run disgusting experiments on them? Why can't they just use the same levitational methods to beam them up directly?
Why do they travel these great distances just to stick pieces of glass under peoples' skin or excise the guts from our cows?

Who knows?

My deepest apology.

This person isn't a scientist. I should have done the research before posting.

Sorry about that...

Thanks for clarifying.

I like this explanation from the Planetary Society’s Twitter feed:

Does the UFO sighting violate our understanding of physics?

We know enough about physics to launch space missions, image black holes, and map the universe. If the UFO does something physically impossible, there’s probably a simpler answer than physics-breaking aliens.

So — is there a simpler explanation?

Before we conclude that intelligent life has crossed the vast expanses of space to visit us, defying our understanding of physics and eluding the public eye, we should consider the more likely causes for UFO sightings.

I was watching a YouTube video of the Iceland volcano last week and there were "UFO's" flying all around the volcano. I wish I posted it, they were the best "UFO" footage Ive seen recently! Aliens were clearly sight seeing.

As I suspected, easily debunked as camera lens anomalies. I wonder if the aliens watched the Superbowl?

Thanks for the video, Solium! Scott has some good ideas. Some commenters do as well.
Would our gov allow high def photos/videos to be shown if they do indeed exist?
Would they "leak" vids such as these to create public furor and demand for more money to enable the military to upgrade to better equipment?
If ETs have traveled vast distances thru space to get here, would they use the same craft to enter Earth's atmosphere to explore?
Would they use drones or remote-controlled vehicles to operate in Earth's atmosphere?
Would they have surveillance abilites to observe us without even entering our airspace?
Who knows?

Another thing, while we as humans have different styles of vehicles every UFO encounter shows a completely different vehicle design. No two UFO encounters show the same spacecraft design. Now aliens are flying in giant Tic Tacs! WTF?

Yep, and aliens looked different in every country. In Europe they used to be described as more human and blonde, as compared to spindly and bug-eyed.

I think the thing that bugs me most about all of this UFO, Bigfoot, ghost encounter stuff is too many folks have a ve$ted interest involved. I'm not saying that about the pilots and folks involved in the more recent incidents that are part of this thread.
These alien, ghost hunter, haunted this and that sort of shows featured on "History" and other channels reek of merchandising.

Why should I trust or believe what a fighter pilot has to say? I don't take anything at face value.
And yes, their motives should be questioned.

I get ya, Solium and I don't disagree. Indeed no one is above suspicion, I just don't know if the pilots, et al, have any ulterior motives.
I find it interesting that on the "Go Fast" video, the pilots are laughing and carrying on; I can't really make out what they're actually saying, but none of them sound scared or anything, so maybe it wasn't a big deal to them?

Last night three different channels of the "Discovery" network put on a 3-hour show called UFOs Declassified Live - hosted by none other than Josh Gates (so much that show's credibility). At least they've dropped the facade of objectivity. I didn't watch all of it as I had better things to do and I even dozed off several times. They were taking some questions from Twitter, but as I don't use it, I didn't participate. I wish some folks would have asked some pointed questions, but the only ones I saw were typical fan stuff.

I appreciate you turning me on to Joe Scott and, indirectly, Mick West. He makes some good points and he obviously touches some nerves judging by the number of ad hominem attacks he gets on youtube.

Joe Scott is pretty entertaining. Seems like a cool guy. Yeah, Discovery Channel turned into the conspiracy (and sensationalist) channel. Stopped watching them a decade ago.

Yes, Mick West is quite good:

And yes, the Discovery show was not good. Too bad that they didn't emphasize the science part a lot more. The astrophysicist that they did have on didn't really comment on the UFO videos much, since, as he correctly states, he didn't have enough data. But Mick West (or someone similar) who has done extensive studying of the videos, would have been a welcome addition. An antidote, if you will, to the peddlers of "it must be aliens", that were primarily featured.

The astrophysicist at the very end of the 3 hours did give his opinion when asked if we are being visited by aliens and he said it was not likely. The only real serious comment in the whole show
