Britain's go-to French actor, Andre Maranne, has passed away aged 94.

Herbert Lom's right hand man in The Pink Panther films, Benoit in Doctor Who's The Moonbase, Basil's 'emergency' chef in Fawlty Towers, and Bill Carson's pal!

Ironically, I saw him last night as Spectre #10 in THUNDERBALL and was thinking he had already passed away.

He was great in the Pink Panther movies.

RIP.

(P.s im not sure about the drunk chef, thats wrong. Maranne ran Andre's restaurant in the Torquay in F T and when they did the gourmet night their chef got drunk, so Basil drove to the restaurant to collect meals from Andre. Kurt was the drunk chef who got pissed n wanted to kiss maniel, played by Steve Plytas)

Yes, you are right! Thanks. I'll edit.

Sad news. I guess that's nearly all the main creative talents from The Pink Panther films gone now when you think of it. Edwards, Mancini, Sellers, Lom, Kwuok, Niven, Stark, Plummer and now Maranne. At least Claudia is still with us.

Id forgotten Burt had gone, at 85 in 2016.

The one thing that movies do....is freeze people and give them a funny kind of immortality where they never grow old.

It is sobering and frightening as people you have watched all your life continue to pass away. frown

Elke Sommer from A Shot In The Dark is still alive and kicking.
