Bill Conti is one of my favorite composers. Rocky is my favorite film ever, and his scores for that series, as well as the Karate Kid films are among my favorites. I wish somebody would release his score for Nomads!

I haven't been on the board much in a very long time. I interviewed Conti for Score to Death: The Podcast last year. It's a pretty detailed interview, if anyone is interested:

I have one Bill Conti album, called "The Formula." I think I have spun it twice, and don't remember much about it.

I also have one groovy Bill Conti 70s track on CD, on one of the Easy Tempo collections.

That is the extent of my Bill Conti knowledge.

"Escape to Victory" and "The Big Blue" (U.S. rescore; original overseas cut of the film has a score by Eric Serra) are my personal favorites so far. Then, of course, his score to the pilot of "Dynasty" (unreleased, sadly; just have a rip I made).

For the life of me I couldn't remember the score to FYOE outside of the Sheena Easton hit.

I picked up the CD several years back looking forward to some Bond music on a long cross-country drive. I was horrified, and greatly disappointed when I finally spun it. In all the times I'd seen the film, I just never taken note of it outside a couple well placed ominous accents as well as the Bond theme kicking in at the requisite moments.

Long story short, after I got more acclimated to the kitschy, upbeat disco sound I began to seriously enjoy it as a great counterpoint to the Barry material.
I honestly love the score now.

Also a big fan of Broadcast News. The OoP Varese was reduced on sale forever it seemed, but it's wonderful and generous enough while not overstaying it's welcome

Would love to see The Formula, F.I.S.T., and Unmarried Woman all get a rerelease at some point.
I'd even happily settle for a download.

I'm going to tell you guys something I don't remember if I ever told you, about 25 years ago I suffered from depression and Conti's music helped me get through it. I know that sounds corny, but it's true.

scoredtodeath, it was 20 years ago that I caught up with Conti after a local concert and I am itching to hear your interview. Fan meet-up and official interview decades between--this just adds to the FSMessageboard experience and it never gets old even if I do.

Ive never been a fan of the stuff that I've heard with the exception of The Thomas Crown Affair. I've got the (coughs....) 'expanded' version of this and I love it. So any recommendations on here will be noted and I may well dip into the Conti pool....

Not corny at all. I totally get this. His music is literally some of the only film music that can bring me to tears without the movie. It is powerful stuff.

This is the only Bill Conti track I own on CD, titled "Red Label," on a volume of "The Easy Tempo." I wonder if he does more stuff like this.

That sounds more like his Mademoiselle De Sade score, Onya, one I think you would dig...

Thanks for understanding Blake, and again you conduct great interviews!smileTo be honest I love ALL of Conti's scores, and would love for some of his more obscure scores to be released, such as HAPPY NEW YEAR, FOR KEEPS, 8 SECONDS, PRIVATE BENJAMIN, THE SEDUCTION OF JOE TYNAN and CARBON COPY. It's hard to believe his scores for the pilots of DYNASTY and FALCON CREST have never been released. And his scores for ROCKY V and BALBOA.

The first time I noticed Conti was when I saw the movie ROCKY. I was stunned by how great the music was in that movie and wore out the LP.

I really liked his themes for Cagney and Lacy and also Dynasty and Falcon Crest.

Other movie scores I've liked are F.I.S.T, Baby Boom, The Right Stuff, Slow Dancing in the Big City, North and South, Victory, and Coolangatta Gold.

That track may be from that album. That must have been an early score for him?
