It's right at the start of the film, in the European-set prologue, before the 25-years-later sun lounge scene (which is all pre-credits). That's why I was trying to post the link to the YouTube upload (great quality image in the Spanish-subtitled upload under the title EL PRESTAMISTA 1964) - but, alas, my cutter and paster don't stick.

UPDATE UPDATE - I refer you back to my previous post, which now includes the link to the film itself. I can see it embedded anyway. Are you getting a "Not available" notice?

Not available in my country. I'm not sure who told Paramount where I live.

Your browser has data which YouTube and Dailymotion detect to determine where you are, so they can region restrict videos. You'd have to get a VPN to get around that.

We've really come to depend upon emoticons, haven't we?

Well, it is you, so a little tough to tell sometimes.

So, excuse my ignorance, and believe me I am EXTREMELY serious about this. Where is the "serious" erotikon? If these YT links are monitored from outer space, and region locked depending on the satellites' software recognition of territorial infringements, does this mean that half the planet (well, half Planet FSM) can see my links to the film, but the other half of the globe can't?

I remember watching this film on television at our summer house in Denmark in the late 80s or early 90s - on a TV that was already black/white to begin with. I was just a young kid attracted to whatever big, new films came out of Hollywood at the time, but I was kinda transfixed by this. Certainly one of my first encounters with a more alternative/artsy form of US cinema, one of my earliest encounters with a problematic protagonist and my first encounter with Rod Steiger as well, which eventually became a favourite. Haven't seen it since then, though, and can't remember the score. Something to check out.

Thor, while we're in real time, let me ask you - can you see the two YouTube links I posted? Maybe Norway and Spain are aligned.

I can, yes! But Thomas' video earlier, I have to go to Youtube to watch.

Graham, when you opened a hailing frequency from your spaceship and contacted Paramount, did you tell them that I was in the US? I would try to give them as little information as possible in the future. If you did not tell them, thanks, but they still somehow found out where I live.

I love hearing stories like this. I didn't see the film until I was in my early 30s. I had found a pristine LP during an unbelievable record haul. The fantastic "How come you people?" dialog is included in LP, and I knew immediately I had to see this film.

I hope you can see this clip from the InterTubes. I wish they would have included a little more of Jaime Sanchez at the beginning.

"Video no disponible". They're onto the two of us. Anyone else being singled out with this kind of persecution?
