Take Hart.
Anyone else used to watch the gallery (was it scored with Cavatina?) and constantly say things like 'no way a 5 year old drew that' or 'that was done by a 12 YEAR OLD!!! Must be Special Needs' wink

I don't know if I'm getting Take Hart mixed up with Vision On, but I (think I) remember "the gallery" being part of Vision On, and it had some cool vibes elevator music behind it.

I’ve just made the life-changing decision henceforth to pronounce it ga-zed-bo. It doesn’t much come up in everyday conversation as we have a sloping plot that won’t support easily any freestanding structure, be it summerhouse, conservatory, orangery, garden room or large shed. Or ga-zed-bo.

Blimey, what a wallow in nostalgia. Loved Vision On, though I'd 'moved ON' before Sylvester McCoy was involved. Anyway that clip you linked has the woman telling kids to keep sending their pics in when it's labelled the last ever show.... How mean is that??!! Oh, and I never got my picture featured. But we all love that music.

It would be lovely to somehow bring Joan up to date with all this, but a crash course won't illustrate the nostalgia that comes with growing up with all this. But I do think we Brit kids had it flippin' great when it came to kids telly.

How can we tell her how good The Clangers were? SF for toddlers!!! Bagpus, and all the other Oliver Postgate classics. Noggin the Nog... Ivor the Engine..

And yes, Trumpton, Chigley and the music box one... Camberwick Green. Excellent series all long before Nick Park made everyone believe he was the master of kiddie stop motion. I remember audio taping the songs from these!

Windy Miller from PM! He'd make a better job than most of the real ones!

Speaking of the above Brian Cant voiced classics. So many characters had their own theme. The woman with her dogs, the soldiers, the train in Chigley.... the firemen in ... whichever one it was. The music in these things is a thing of beauty.

Here's the episode where Windy gets drunk! But all is well with Captain SNORT (!) and the army boys on hand.....

Now that is funny.

I admit that I have not got a clue as to what some of you have been talking about for the past few days. Oh well, carry on.

Find the time, dive in . Learn.big grin You'll feel better and more inclusive. If so I'm sure we'd let you.be an honourary Brit.

I was once in Lavenham, idyllic old essex town. And there was this toy shop. I looked in window and did a doubke take - the camblewick green musical box - a working one! And in the shelves every single character from Mrs Honeyman to Doctor Mopp to PC McGarry to the soldiers at Pippin fort.
Superb.
I agonised over the increased nerd ratio and street cred destruction of buying them. Came soooo close.

Certainly tug at the heart strings don't they? Those three kiddie shows are classics.

I remember recording some of the music off tv when I first got a cassette recorder. And in my early days of Doctor Who fandom, we had meetings at folks' houses. The rest of us were highly amused that among this particular guy's collection, of audio recordings of Who episodes and other sf bits and pieces, there was a complete run of audio recordings of Chigley, Trumpton and Camberwick Green..lol.

And why not?
