Hello everyone,

I would like to share some exciting news for 2021 (we could all use some):

Our company, Neumation Music, will be joining the ranks of Tim at Omni and Chris Siddall by releasing the first of many film score study books: Bernard Herrmann's "The Day the Earth Stood Still." We have prepared several scores of cultural and musical importance that will be published in newly engraved, beautifully bound editions --an authoritative resource for scholars, composers, collectors, and fans to study the work of the most inventive composers to write for film.

This will be the first time the complete full scores, with the original orchestrations/arrangements, will be made available from the vaults. All of our publications are engraved from the full scores and parts used at the recording sessions.

We are very happy to announce a special release to coincide with the 70th anniversary of one of the greatest science fiction films of all timeā€¦..

KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!

Stay tuned for more information. We have some very cool projects scheduled for the coming months and possibly several CD releases, as well...scores that will be made available for the first time! Our next score book will be a classic Goldsmith from 1982.

Cheers!
The Neumation Music Team

Cool! I've always been enamored with "Radar" (piano piece) and would love to see the score, and maybe plunk it out on the piano some day.

This is my favorite Herrmann score, and I will be excited to receive this.

There is a note in one of the cues that was different on the Phase 4 album from the film version. On the Herrmann board, I asked Bill Wrobel about this, but was unable to get a clear answer.

What terrific news. Look forward to it and hopefully some new titles in golden age and silver age scores. Many thanks.

Looking forward to it.

Looking forward to this. And there's no Goldsmith title from 1982 that I wouldn't snap up instantly.
I just hope your name doesn't indicate that you'll be notating the music in neumes.

I wonder what that Goldsmith score is. He wrote a disturbing amount of excellent scores in 1982. I'm guessing Poltergeist.

Goldsmith from 1982. Well, I personally hope it's First Blood or Poltergeist.

Lawd.

Night Crossing 2/5/82
Poltergeist 6/4/82
The Secret of NIMH 7/16/82
The Challenge 7/23/82
First Blood 10/22/82

Literally any of these would be amazing to see in written form. Strong candidate for Jerry's greatest year of output, ever. But I agree; Poltergeist and First Blood especially.

I've always compared it with Jarre's The Train because the score is largely, though not totally, devoid of the sentimentality normally communicated by the use of strings.

I guess I've based this idea on the sheer brute strength of relentless mechanical movers - Gort in DTESS and the train from it's namesake - brass only assemblies to hone the harsher aspects comprising the backbones of both films.

Then again, Goldsmith did away with strings for the Jericho titles, probably to save money and get away with it on the basis of honorable intentions towards the subject matter being of primary concern.

I would like to see Jerry's Twilight Zone TV scores. They are by far the best things he ever did, although "City of Fear" ranks a close second. Maybe this publisher will release some of these one day.

I would be deeply surprised if the written scores to those still exist.

So would I, but I would love to see them. I have learned many of the passages by ear, so they would not be too difficult to transcribe.

We are actually planning on a Twilight Zone anthology of Herrmann, Goldsmith, and Steiner. The scores for most of the prominent episodes do exist at several locations. I've engraved several Herrmann episodes already. This project probably won't come together for quite awhile, however. We have several books that are first in the pipeline and there will be some red-tape involved with having multiple composers in the same book. A Twilight Zone anthology is a dream project for me and I really hope we can pull it off in 2022.

If anyone has suggestions feel free to let us know: info AT neumation-music.com

Not a bad idea, Yavar. Our concern is that three volumes may be triple the production costs rather than one large book. Will need to crunch the numbers...

Do all the TZ scores by all three composers even realistically FIT in a single book? Goldsmith alone wrote seven scores for the series!

Yeah, but the jazz ones are the only ones that are worthwhile. The others are kid stuff.
