Can come with a bonus penny. Seriously though, one of my favorite scores by Barry.

All I have is the John Debney version, and I certainly have no complaints about it. I only saw the film once on TV, decades ago. I remember standing in the record store with both CDs in my hands (remember that?), trying to decide between them. I picked the re-recording for its expanded track list, and on the chance that the digital sound would be superior. I agonized in the store, but you probably can't go wrong with these two anyway.

And as good as the Varése re-recording is, nothing will ever beat the film tracks, if available. I honestly prefer the Varese, as I find it a better-sounding recording from an acoustical standpoint. The original album is much to dry and studio-bound for me. In fact I don't even own the original album, only the Varese!

Yes, but remember we're not talking about a reissue of the 1980 album here. We're talking about the original film recordings and we don't know how the dynamics of the original score would sound on CD yet. It depends how its mixed and mastered. Anyway, I say, bring it on. Varese Sarabande recording. MCA album recording. Original film recording. I'll take it all, especially for something as great as this. Cheers
