I searched but either the function isn't working for me very well or I didn't dig deeply enough, so apologies if this has been done.

I've noticed that the quality of content lately is more and more inversely proportional to the cost. Seems that about half the channels are infomercial crap and really the offerings for other packages seem to be no better. And, living in country as I do, cable is unavailable.

I really haven't tried any of the streaming services (Hulu, Fubo, Sling, etc.), partly out of laziness on my part, honestly, and partly due to what I've been told about not being able to channel surf.
I hate commercials, and I instantaneously switch channels when they start and I've heard you can't do that with streaming services. I'm quite OCD about channel surfing.

Sorry for asking when I really haven't done more than cursory investigative work myself, but any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks all! - jack

I dropped cable a year ago but wanted to get something else because I like some sports. I was going to get Hulu but found out they dropped all local sports programing from their lineup. I read further that other streaming services dropped the local sports channels first and they followed. Buying a sports pass is worthless too because you can't watch any local live games until 48hrs after their broadcast on cable. I think alternatives to cable are going to get more cutthroat like this. If one service drops channels the rest will follow to save money.
