Ha, a bit late with the news John, that lot was announced a month ago, but it's good to have all the specs up. I had an email today saying that Angels With Dirty Faces was on its way across the pond to me, & just maybe I'll get Ivanhoe for Christmas (but that's a long shot).

It seems to me that there's only a few posters interested in the release of old (catalogue) movies here, odd, seeing as this is a film score site. For me, the money I used to spend on importing soundtrack CDs I now spend on Blu-ray movies.

I just wanted to add to it.

Out of the two, I'll go for Ivanhoe. Hopefully, Knights of the Round Table and Quentin Durward will follow. As for the Cagney title , I live without it. I am interested in The Thin Man films

I have to have Angels, I have lovely memories of seeing it on TV in the late fifties (my sister still remembers that Saturday night as well). Ivanhoe should look great, & I'd have those other swashbucklers you listed as well. The swashbuckler I really want is Scaramouche. Fingers crossed for next year.

Reviews just in on the two Blu-rays from Robert Harris over at HTF:

While I guess it was to be expected considering it’s Warner Archive, I’m still very happy to see that Mr. Harris gave Ivanhoe top marks in his review. I wouldn’t mind getting the other two films in the “iron jockstrap” trilogy as Robert Taylor referred to his medieval films, though Knights of the Round Table is noticeably inferior to the other two, Rózsa score aside. I first saw Quentin Durward on a TCM showing and was pleasantly surprised by the more humorous approach to the material, but with MGM’s typical lush style, though the main villain played by Duncan Lamont was somewhat lacking compared to George Sanders and Stanley Baker in the other two films (I’ve read that Christopher Lee screen-tested for the role, which could have been something).

Not forgetting George Cole, who was always a joy to watch.
