Lets convert this to simple terms, the movie theater industry is down on their knees because a wholly botched and inept response to Covid by the US government, and Warner Brothers said, "yeah, lets kick em while they are down" The studios see a vaccine coming, gotta act soon and destroy the theater business before they can get back on their feet. yeah, sad, I will be back at the theater as soon as I can get a vaccine in my arm, and I will take that shot as soon as I can get it. I will support the movies that theater, always. This WB decision really is pathetic. And I am sure that directors like Denis V really hate it too, you make a large film, and the studio rents it to home on the first day.

For what its worth, of the films mentioned I don't see any of them making their money back domestically. I think the studios are looking to cut their losses and use the content to drum up new streaming customers.
