So what is the ideal medium for listening to files like this -- if, as in my case, the computer is in a different room from my audio system?

I have my entire music collection (lossless FLAC CD rips and Hi-Res files I bought online) saved on a portable hard drive that is connected via USB to my Sony Blu Ray player which is connected to my A/V receiver via HDMI. Browsing through my collection (organized in folders by composers and albums) using the player's remote and my TV as a display is a breeze and the sound through my audio system is wonderful. I definitely hear an increase in resolution when playing hi-res music.

I got a free month on Qobuz just to hear the difference between CD quality and Hi Res.

And doing a direct comparison on my computer using my Samsung Bluetooth earbuds, I can barely detect a difference. Not sure I would know which is which in a blind sampling.

Yeah, but that's like watching a 4K movie on an SD screen, of course you're not going to see (or hear) a difference there. If your main listen is done on a computer with earbuds, there is of course no need to upgrade your files to high-res. Even AAC or MP3 might be fine there. (Depends on the earbuds though, they should be the key here. Not sure how good some of the better Samsung bluetooth earbuds are these days and which codecs they use. Might be pretty good by now.)

Yes, already admitted that above, I know it well, just good to have it confirmed - mostly that I don't feel unsatisfied by standard digital def.

And my Samsung buds are very good for my own listening purposes, good quality, no buzzing, holds the signal, but for nothing better than high quality Spotify or Apple Music tracks.

Roger says

At Intrada the week of the 9th

we should have replacement discs for Ivanhoe. So if you were annoyed by the clicks on this release, feel free to request a replacement disc.

Both Ivanhoe and Julius Caesar have new discs in stock and will be on hand for a couple of months. Getting a replacement is pretty simple: Just contact Jeff through the site and request a new copy. f you originally purchased it from another outlet, just let them know. They should be able to provide you with the new copy as well. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy... or something like that. big grin

I must've missed out on some information. Why do I need a replacement disc?

I'd read about clicks on the newest Julius Ceasar CD release, but not on the newest Ivanhoe CD release.

Someone please fill me in.

The issue was apparently on both of them is all.

Hi!

I know the first edition was plagued with clicks, but which tracks were the most affected in your opinion? I don't listen music by earphones (I have tinnitus) and couldn't find anything in my auditions.

Thanks and cheers.
