ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE---Senior Box Office Analyst Jeff Bock commented on Warner Bros. spending an additional $70 million for reshoots for the HBO Max four-part miniseries, "While viewers may ultimately shrug, this kind of substance moves the needle and keeps the conversation about Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman going. Front and center in the mind of consumers, that’s exactly what WB wants for their legacy characters. Plus, the additional wrinkles of Joker and Deathstroke further the connection of the DC universe of characters, something Marvel has consistently done well, and something DC is finally moving towards."
He added, "While JUSTICE LEAGUE wasn’t THE AVENGERS DC was hoping for at the box office, there is no denying superheroes and their machinations are still the champions of social media. Considering content is at a premium right now, and we’re in the middle of an all-out war for eyeballs, HBO Max investing upwards of $100 million for an extended comic book caper seems like a solid play for subscribers."

BE MY EYES---movie underway about a female law student who volunteers to receive phone calls from blind people in order to help them when she receives a call from a blind woman who is being abducted. Sam Raimi is the co-producer.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE---Emma Thompson will star in this comedy movie about a sex-starved widow who hires young sex therapist Leo Grande to satisfy her unfulfilled desires.
SHOTGUN WEDDING---Jennifer Lopez and Armie Hammer will star in this comedy movie about an engaged couple who bring their obnoxious families together where they are all taken hostage.
NO SUDDEN MOVE---Matt Damon will have a cameo role in the HBO Max/Steven Soderbergh movie about a 1955 Detroit heist that goes awry. Don Cheadle, Benecio Del Toro, David Harbour, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta and Brendan Fraser star.

TRIVIA---character actor King Donovan appeared in two 1950s sci fi movies that led to a wave of similar movies: THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS and INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.
In Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion classic, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, King Donovan played psychiatrist Dr. Ingersoll. The huge success of THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS led to a wave of giant monster movies including THEM!, THE BLACK SCORPION, TARANTULA, THE GIANT BEHEMOTH, GORGO and the legendary GODZILLA.

Superheroes. Loved 'em as a kid. Preferred US comics to my homegrown UK ones. Always dreamed of seeing them on the big screen or tv. My intro to Batman was the tv show. I got a little older and thought Batman was better than that. I eventually thought he was the ONLY realistic character in the whole thing. Because real people don't have super powers.
When I got quite a bit older I realised that actually the 60s show was right. The whole damn thing is SO ridiculous that what else can you make of this stuff but a comedy??
The whole genre is the silliest end of all of sf and fantasy. ESPECIALLY the silly suits. What Batman 66 did was present America with it's first Pantomime. A show where the kids enjoy for obvious reasons, the adventure etc., and the adults (and those on their way as time goes on) enjoy for the jokes which fly over the (little) kids heads.
As a near 60 adult I now see stuff being made where they are taking great pains to make these things look right. And the irony is that it takes MORE sfx to make a hero without super powers to look right than it does SUPERMAN!!!
And at the end of it all, I look at this stuff and enjoy when the colours are right. There's a scene when all the Avengers are stood fighting together, all too short, and it actually looks like a page out of 60s/70s Marvel.
Looking at the Snyder photo above, all I see is a bunch of people who are indistinguishable. All grey/brown.
That would never have attracted me to the Justice League (of America which we can't say anymore) when I was a kid. BORING.
