Nice little piece on an exhibition of his models, you know the ones (one or two) that I've handled.... lol.

Nice to see his daughter there too.

There's also a book coming out tomorrow. I'll pass, there's been so many Harryhausen books released, & I have a few. I'd have loved to have a book about him & his films released in the sixties, but nothing then. He let me handle a model when I went to a talk he gave at the NFT a great many years ago.

Cool stuff. He created so many fantastic creatures. I wish there were affordable figurines and model kits of his creatures. Such a lost opportunity.

Of course I knew someone would remark on this and it just had to be you! Beat me to it...

I only have the second printing of his Film Fantasy Scrapbook, which came out with The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and had the addition of a colour section on that film. Naturally I had it signed by the great man after the infamous Medusa fondling, lol. And also had him sign the shot of the Argo under the cd in the Intrada rerecording of Jason and the Argonauts. As I play that quite a lot I get a little kick every time I see the signature, making it the best 'value' autograph I have.

What surprised me was that he knew nothing of that score release. A little slip up there on the label's part if you ask me...

A bigger shock now is that neither myself nor my mate at the time took pictures of us with him! Every bit player in Doctor Who and not one of that event. DOH!

There's been various figures & kits of his monsters released over the years. I have a reasonable sized figure of Talos kneeling on his plinth, I must have had it for 20 years. It wasn't cheap, I bought it in a sale at Forbidden Planet, & even then it was £50.

But as you said they're usually expensive. I would like to see Todd Mcfarlane or Diamond Select Toys do a series of Harryhausen figures. Their quality may not be up there with the high end stuff but its good enough and affordable.

On my short list of 12 " figures for a Harryhausen display would quite simply be the Cyclops and Talos. Done.

If the skeletons and the Selenites were cheap enough I might think about 'em. Ooo, what about the sphere that went to the moon. Maybe the Minoton.... We know how we're fixed here. BUT!! My first sentence still stands.
