Returning to films noir, we have Hidden Gem #10: They Won't Believe Me (1947), with its fascinating, twisted plot and antithetically noir central character. This was my very first entry linked here

http://thecinemacafe.com/the-cinema-treasure-hunter/2013/6/22/wkph1bclcvl5jxi5844tpzri2fb3wk

for the Cinema Cafe Site with some kind words from the "Czar of Noir" himself, Eddie Muller, in the comments section below the review. If you're a noir fan and haven't seen this unusual motion picture, please believe me, you don't want to miss this major opportunity.

*** Note *** For the first time on TCM, the film’s running time is listed on their schedule as the longer version’s 95 minutes, not the typical U.S. shortened version at 80 minutes the channel has previously played. We’ll find out if this is just a printing mistake or in fact the rarely seen longer version Monday October 26 at 6:30am PST.

So which version did they run?

Unfortunately the same 80 minute version! I've been trying to get word to George Feltenstein at Warner Home Video that the BBC has the 95 minute version and it is in pretty good shape. I've found that to be a difficult task, however, from here in Australia. If you or anyone else would like to contact him, say, on my behalf, that would be great. He reportedly wants to release the complete version on DVD.

I'm sure George is aware. They've already upgraded several RKO's with material from UK including THE LOST PATROL, RACHEL AND THE STRANGER, THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD. THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME is definitely on their radar, as is THE BIG SKY.

And in a (very) worst case scenario, George knows I have a vintage 16 of the 95 minute version of THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME.

That's great to know! Thank you so much for letting me know!

Upgraded the same material, or added missing content? Was this before the blu-ray?

Many people today don't realize that THE THING was cut by 7 minutes in the late 1950's. For years, the original release version existed only in 16mm prints (I have one). The most recent release by Warners includes 35mm material for the entire film.
