I decided to order both this new KK2 and the prior La La Land KK1 release together last night. Never got to picking up any of the scores on CD before now. I'm excited to dive into both of them together.

@Brian: If it isn't too much to ask was the score for part IV always going to be mostly tracked in music from parts I and II? Or did Manfredini originally compose music that ended up being replaced by the tracked in music instead? And why? I know the majority of part III was tracked in because Manfredini only had a limited amount of time due to a broadway musical conflicting with his schedule on Part III. I don't recall it ever being revealed why part IV was mostly tracked in though.

The situation for PARTS III and IV were almost identical. Everybody just thought the approach worked so well with PART III, why not do it again? It was cheaper, quicker, and easier overall. Harry did compose about 22 minutes of music for PART IV. Jack Tillar--the music editor on III--was even brought back in to do the editing on IV. But no, they didn't replace anything Harry did with pre-existing music. In fact, so far in my research, they've never replaced a Manfredini-composed cue anywhere. There was one cue in PART II that he wrote for a cut scene that of course didn't make the final film but I've been following pretty much every note of his scores, and they're all pretty much intact in every film--again, barring scenes or clips that were actually cut from the film itself. I haven't written the chapters for IX and X so I can't vouch for those yet. I'm anxious to dive into them.

Interesting. Thanks for the response.

Just received my F13th disc with an autograph!

Sounds great! Now how the hell do I convert that cover image file into a jpeg?

Those Oct 6 titles supposedly start shipping today!!! Woo Hoo!!!

I've seen people stating that their KKII and F13 have shipped already so I'm guessing the hold up is that pesky Graveyard Shift! big grin

Yeah it seems that way. Perhaps it has to do with the autographs.

I ordered both Graveyard Shift and F13th on the same day but in separate orders. F13 shipped immediately for me and arrived super fast considering I’m in Canada.

The Manfredini autograph is great. He actually wrote out some of the notes. I’ll try to post a pic.

The sound quality is fantastic and the music itself is great. Not familiar with the waxwork version but I’m very satisfied with this one.

Mine was dispatched almost immediately, but for some reason when it got the UK they decided to send it back to the US. It's back in the UK now so I'm hoping I'll get it tomorrow.

Yeah, Graveyard Shift is the one I'm looking forward to least and had it been the only title to state "STARTS SHIPPING OCT 13", I probably would have held off on ordering that one so I'd get the others sooner. But F13 also stated "STARTS SHIPPING OCT 13" so I figured I'd be waiting anyway. Oh well. Its not like its life-saving medicine or anything. big grin

I revisited Graveyard Shift in anticipation for the CD. It’s an odd little film. The production design and casting are spot-on. You can feel the sweat and dirt through those sets. The grime is palpable.
The guy who plays Warwick pretty much steals the show although Dourif chews up as much screen as he can in his small role. I really wish he was in it more.

The problem for me was the lack of variety in the camerawork. It looks very “TV” if you know what I mean. It’s flat. As if every scene was shot with the same lens. Maybe it was a budget thing...

I like the movie though and I really like the score. Especially the earlier moments in the build up to the reveal of the creature. The music treats everything deadly serious which really works.
I’m very curious to hear the music that was dropped in certain scenes.

In the latest newsletter, LLL mentions a "mistake" with Karate Kid Part II.

Does anybody have any idea what that is? I've been in full Halloween/Horror mode for the past few weeks so I haven't had a chance to listen to my copy yet.

I'd like to know what the mistake is too.

I wonder if that effects the CDs SAE are sending out to customers who ordered early from that site?

I just received KK II which I ordered back on October 6 at Intrada (the reason it took so long was because I put on hold until I got more titles, as it was delivered to another country). The final from track 21 Daniel leaves fades away, is this the problem that LLL noticed and the reason they send a replacement disc? I already contacted Intrada and LLL. Waiting for response.

No, track 21 is as recorded.

17 frames (less than one second) was clipped off of the initial pressing.
