Recently, on radio 3 I heard a piece of music that I was liking. I found out it was a movement from this chappies second symphony. I liked it so much I bought it ( with his 3rd ). Very nice indeed. Symphonic and melodic whilst incorporating jazz and blues influences. So I ordered two more discs of his symphonies . Just finished playing his Afro-American, also very good. Whiffs of Gershwin, I think. And bits that I can only describe as reminding me of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, not necceserily anything written but that's what I get in my head.

God Grant that Damian lye Still.

One of these days I'll attempt to check his music out (after privileged elitist white Beethoven gets cancelled out).

He’s great! (Great enough to be on the main board even if it’s concert music, IMO...but I’m pretty sure he also dabbled in film composition.)

To be honest, I'm not a fan of his. There's something that I don't like and can't change my mind about it.

At least it's another reply. I was just pleasantly surprised by what I heard. Usually when I put radio 3 on it's either stuff I've got or know of . Rarely do I hear a ' mystery ' piece that hits the spot. One I can put on and relax for an hour.
