I listened to Hammond’s original take on “The Air That I Breathe.” It starts off sounding like a demo with Hammond’s tentative-sounding vocal until the strings start. After that it breaks into a wannabe acid rock jam session from John Lennon’s “Instant Karma” sessions or a track from George Harrison’s “All Thing Must Pass.”

Looks like I owe The Hollies an apology! Minus their pronounciation of “anything” as “anyTHIN.” wink

Albert Hammond performs his composition and subsequent hit by The Hollies, “The Air That I Breathe”, which would inhabit FM radio for decades.

This song was written for the movie version of CABARET. I find it terribly sad because she blows her one chance at love.

"The Air That I Breathe"- The Hollies

Love the song, but I also won't deny that it makes my shortlist of all-time atrocious vocals.

All true, but back then it was a great makeout song! smile

I had no idea Randy Edelman was also a "pop" guy, and a sappy one at that!

Have YOU ever made love for hours on a bed of silk and lace?!

I’m more of a “burlap and velour” kind of guy.
