Directed by Damiano Damiani and starring Glenda Jackson as the bullying Mother Superior of a convent that has a wing for troubled patients ,Also featuring Lisa Harrow and Adolfo Celi.

Film was shown on TV in UK in the 80s. Made quite a mark as I remember it quite vividly. Translated the title means 'The Smile Of The Great Tempter', English version was released as The Devil Is a Woman in US, The Tempter in UK.

Excellent score with some stunning vocal work.

I seem to remember watching this on tv - is it the one where Lisa Harrow’s character is obliged to sleep with a vagrant as some kind of penitence? But brilliant score, and I’ll never forget a review from the 90s that described Morricone as getting you in the crosshairs with the ethereal religious vocals and then pulls the trigger with the change of tone from gentle to brutal.

I seem to remember watching this on tv - ..l.

Me, too, but recall very little about it (other than questioning whether that was the actress from All Creatures Great and Small smile -film versions)

I certainly didn't recall the music when I bought the CD (Mar'04, doubled with Dalle Ardenne All'Inferno) ... though I'd had several cues already (on the compilation album Morricone 2000 for some months) ...

... and then in a mad moment, I bought the expanded release! At near 63' this is a challenge (Beethoven's Ode to Joy is almost a release ...). For streaming I've split this into the original Album tracks and Bonus tracks as they're more manageable ... I still get queries from my better half
