MONDAY, JUNE 29 RESPECT---trailer released for the Aretha Franklin biomovie. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBfVR_u_lGQ BATMAN BEYOND---a report claims HBO Max is developing a new live-action Batman movie starring Michael Keaton with Johnny Depp possibly playing The Joker, "A live-action BATMAN BEYOND is being talked about again and this time for HBO Max although no development has begun. If they could net Keaton for it, the possibility of this materializing greatly increases. AT&T is quite excited about the commercial and social-media buzz Keaton in BATMAN BEYOND could generate for HBO Max. Only time will tell if Keaton is similarly thrilled with the idea." Keaton is also reportedly in talks to return as Batman in THE FLASH movie. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN---Margot Robbie will star in the reboot movie which is reportedly a female-led reboot. Christina Hodson (BIRDS OF PREY) is the writer. LUCILLE BALL---Cate Blanchett will star in this untitled Amazon biomovie about the marriage of I LOVE LUCY stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Aaron Sorkin is the writer. Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. are the co-producers. STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---composer Michael Giachinno tweeted happy birthday to JJ Abrams with a photo revealing his cameo as a Sith Trooper. HIGHLANDER---director Chad Stahelski (JOHN WICK) commented on the remake of the 1986 Christopher Lambert movie, "We’re in heavy development mode on HIGHLANDER. Tweaking the scripts, writing, conceptualizing sequences, how we’re going to do everything. We probably have a lot more in-person kind of things, but it hasn’t slowed down our development process at all." D.A.R.Y.L.---Tony Hale (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) will star in the TNT/TBS tv sequel to the 1985 robot movie. Hale will play the 44 year-old D.A.R.Y.L. STAR TREK 4---Zachary Quinto said he and the rest of the original reboot cast are not involved in the new reboot movie, “It’s already thriving in the television format with DISCOVERY and PICARD and the spinoffs. I can’t even keep track of how many new STAR TREK stories are being told since our last film in 2016. All I know is that we, all of us, had an incredible experience making those films. If there is an appetite for more of those stories with us in them, I’m sure that we would all be thrilled to come back and do one more or whatever, but I’m not really attached to it anymore." HELLBOY---Ron Perlman said he refused an offer to return for the reboot movie, “The only thing that’s stopping the third HELLBOY film is the fact that Guillermo [del Toro] is one of the busiest guys in the business. He couldn’t do it with all the stuff he’s got lined up even if wanted to. The two films had nothing to do with one another. The reboot was something I had the opportunity to participate in and decided that the only version of HELLBOY I’m interested in is the one I do with Guillermo and so in walking away from it, I truly walked away from it, and haven’t seen it or heard much about it. I wished them well, but it was not in my bailiwick.“ COUNCIL OF DADS---NBC cancelled the series. VAGRANT QUEEN---Syfy cancelled the series. DISCO ELYSIUM---tv series underway based on the video game. IN MEMORIAM---HBO Max British sci fi tv series set in the future where the government issues memory chip implants. TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia. Two actors who played Bond Villains almost played Jean-Luc Picard in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. Yaphet Kotto, who played Dr. Kananga in LIVE AND LET DIE, Roger's Moore's first James Bond movie, said he regretted turning the Picard role down, "I think I made some wrong decisions in my life, man. I should have done that but I walked away. When you’re making movies, you’d tend to say no to TV. It’s like when you’re in college and someone asks you to the high school dance. You say no." Patrick Bauchau, who played Scarpine in A VIEW TO A KILL, Roger Moore's last James Bond movie, was beaten out by Patrick Stewart for the Picard role. A Paramount Pictures April 13, 1987 casting memo said, "'...Patrick Bauchau did come in to read for Gene [Roddenberry] today for the role of "Picard." His reading was well received; he and Patrick Stewart seem to be the favorites for the role of "Picard."' Wow, can't see either of those actors as Capt. Picard. Really seems like poor choices. I think Yaphet Kotto would have been a fantastic choice. He has an energy, presence and swag that could have easily surpassed the low energy, tepid and timid Stewart. Also, he would have most likely pulled off - credibly - the whole "Picard the frenchman" conceit much, much better the Stewart did (admittedly, this whole French jazz was a bit laughable from get go, but Stewart sounded absurd attempting to garble even a few French words). Kotto's addition to the mix would have also made the weak character of Jordi seem rather less tokenistic. (even if I don't think any such move would ever temper the mood of the woke crowd, in retrospect). To be fair, I've been rather Star Treked out for decades now. It would be nice if the classics were revisited on occasion instead of the never ending rethreads, re-boots and alternate universes we've been fed mercilessly for the longest time. It kills creativity and worse still, it takes a simple but solid concept and then dilutes it to the point of non-recognition.

I enjoy the POTC movies, and even I think Depp's character has run his course. There is plenty of room for other pirates in the movies. Jack Sparrow wasn't even a part of the original ride, and was created for the first movie. Margot Robbie is incredibly talented, and I am looking forward to seeing her in a POTC movie. I wonder if she will be playing the pirate who is the star of the scene that replaced the bride auction scene from the ride?

The C word is very offensive, and I don't know anyone who uses it. The language in both sentences is over the top offensive and gross, and I wish you would change it. I'm forced to agree. In the swear alphabet, the C-word comes just one letter before N. It wouldn't hurt you to use the edit button and take it out.

I received a complaint about this thread...and yeah, let's not use the C word and other blatantly misogynist language. Just don't do it. Thanks for understanding. Lukas
