Star Trek TMP is without question in my top ten favorite expansions of all times. Just a magnificent release.

Ah, I still remember the day that I bought this. I was just getting into film scores and was spending too much money and I started to really get into this guy named Jerry Goldsmith. Looking at the old Star Trek Special Edition that I was about ready to buy then LLL gave us a 3 disc beauty. I went in warp speed, no super ludicrous speed and bought it. And now it’s all gone. Like raising a child and seeing them move out all grown up. No not really. There is 5000 of these things. Good times.

Actually didn’t LLL make 10,000 of TMP? Holy cow, if so.

They were licensed for 10,000 but I don't know if they pressed all the copies. Haven't seen any info on that.

Well if I only had one JG score in my collection this would be it, so no surprise re 10000 units. One of the best LE releases ever.

"You have laboured long, LLL, and proved yourself worthy to receive from us soundtrack collectors, this symbol of total cash"

Been debating with myself on placing one more order during the 30% off sale, I've already placed two orders...this pushed me over the edge and I went ahead and placed another order that included Sum of All Fears before it disappears.

I've been in a similar position during most of this pandemic. Ever since MV remarked that there may not be an LLL left after the pandemic (although it sounds like the response to the 30% sale has prevented that) coupled with the increasingly long periods between re-pressing/re-stocking, I'm realizing that I need to stop taking it for granted that I can keep indefinitely postponing purchases. If it's something that I know I'll want, I need to start pulling the trigger.

If a purchase ends up being a mistake, well, I just try to remind myself how much money I spent on a single instance eating out at a restaurant (or ordering from one)--and that's literally money that eventually goes down the crapper (LOL!). Reframing it in that perspective makes it easier to not get frustrated with a misfire purchase.

Why the surprise?

I doubt that ST:TMP has the broad audience appeal of those two films (even among Trek fans), so selling 10,000 units of a single soundtrack title with 3 discs is quite surprising. Although Matt was probably expressing admiration, not surprise.

Except I had forgotten it was 3 discs and more expensive. Even more impressive.

Count me among those who are extremely and pleasantly shocked that they indeed sold all 10,000! This has become such a niche market that it's beyond surprising--but also very satisfying.
