I pretty much only remember her in these two roles...

...but it has forever burned an indelible impression in mind as an actress playing someone on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I remember in Body Snatchers when it was told she was cast for the very reason to convey the emotion to the audience of the moment. I remember thinking 'yeah, of course.' The depth was something else.

Or WTF?

Edit: for reference that was also Alien and Witches of Eastwick.

I posted about Veronica Cartwright in the Movie/TV trivia---she was Rod Taylor's sister in THE BIRDS.

I met her in line at Petco, some 15 yrs ago. She was buying wheatgrass for her hamster. True story-
I knew who she was, but couldn't place her name. All I kept thinking was 'the other woman from Alien'.

Also, wasn't she Lumby's little sister on LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. Richard Deacon's daughter on the show.

I thought this was about that other Cartwright. Penny from LIS. I get them two names mixed up. Are they related?

Oh you're right I never realized she was the one who played Violet Rutherford. Isn't that something. Ha, can recall her telling Theodore to just say "charge it" at the drugstore because that's what her parents always said. But first & foremost for me is her upset daughter/sister in TZ's "I Sing The Body Electric."

I love Veronica's powerful performance in The Right Stuff.

She's a hoot in The Witches of Eastwick, a standout supporting performance I thought should have been acknowledged with an Oscar nomination.

She was also a regular on the first two seasons of "Daniel Boone" as daughter Jemima Boone when she was abruptly dropped from the cast without explanation. She said years later that Patricia Blair, who played her mother Rebekkah Boone, wanted her gone because she had a vanity complex about playing mother to a maturing teenaged daughter, and because the producers were thinking of romantic based scripts for Veronica.

SOLIUM:

I posted about the two Cartwights being sisters in the trivia a long time ago, and you said you didn't know they were sisters. Your memory is "Lost in Space".

I like how, no matter what the role is, she really "sells" it.

Off topic: I love how the original Penny and Judy had cameos in the LIS movie.
