I love it when a vintage soundtrack is remastered from the original session tapes, especially 2-inch reels, and you get a CD that sounds like it was recorded yesterday. I'm playing King Kong: The Deluxe Edition (John Barry) this morning and drinking it in with rapt attention. And I have various other titles in this category.
I don't have a big essay to write. Just saying, it's a pleasure having the best possible experience with a score. You can't afford the best of everything in life, but you got the best of this. And working from home, being under lockdown as they say, doesn't deprive you of "this."
Remember when CDs had those DDD, ADD, and AAD codes that implied (or were interpreted by consumers) to be a measure of sound quality?
I would never have passed a blind test because I found little correlation between those codes and my enjoyment of the sound. Some of my AAD recordings sounded like the orchestra was in the room with me!
