Frakes was always very gracious about his work with Goldsmith. I'd like to think Nemesis would have been so much better received if he'd directed. He seems like a genuinely decent chap.

I got to work with Frakes a year or two ago, and I couldn't resist asking him about Goldsmith. He was really effusive about the experience of hearing his work on both FIRST CONTACT and INSURRECTION, and how transformative the score was in both cases. He seems to be a big film music fan in general, however, as he had a lot of positive things to say about Jeff Russo's work on the new Trek shows as well. My experience as well. Met him at the Star Trek 50th Convention in NYC a few years back and had Frakes sign my Insurrection album. He perked up a bit when I asked him about Jerry. "I've done everything in this town. I've been a clapper, a runner, everything... worked with the best. I even play a little music myself. And I can't even begin to tell you what Jerry could do. Genius." (Working on memory from that quote, scribbled it down on my iphone after walking away from his booth. Extremely gregarious and warm person, would have ten, fifteen minute conversations with some fans, which isn't often the case.)
