Japan will get a Hybrid SACD edition, too. Though it says "DSD conversion from 96/24", so it sounds like DG will just convert the existing 96/24 PCM audio into DSD:

Just to be clear, the SACD version is exclusive to Japan. The rest of the world is getting the same program as a standard (or "redbook") CD.
Yes and now it's being listed on Amazon as well. It's a very limited release. I ordered mine right away. The only thing Iam curious about is that if it's going to to be a multi channel or stereo or both. The details only include the following : The Complete version of "John Williams In Vienna." Japanese edition exclusively features SACD hybrid format (DSD converted from 96/24).
Thank you for this post! I did not know about this and I immediately purchased on Amazon! For quite awhile I was thinking of purchasing an external blu-ray player so that I could rip the entire concert (just for me!)
There's no meaningful difference between the Japan exclusive SACD and the Blu-ray. The Blu will give you more audio options and more player options and will be significantly cheaper. Audio quality will be identical.
