I would love to see Zimmer & Company reprise John Barry’s 007 Theme, one last time., as a nod to the old school Bond, and Mr. Barry himself. I'd think an action sequence with Daniel Craig cut to this music might give us a real last stand up and cheer moment. As it hasn't been used since MOONRAKER, I've always wondered if that was creative choice, or if there's some legal restriction? Maybe Barry retired it himself? As Zimmer is working with another composer(s), this might make sense and certainly would be a nice touch to the score.

David Arnold did say in a recent podcast interview that he looked for an opportunity to use 007, but that it was too triumphant and jaunty to suit the film. So it does not seem to be a rights issue.

The samba rhythm could be very easily assimilated into something more modern sounding...you can do a lot with dundun dun dun DUN dun.

I always wondered why the theme wasn't used more too.

I adore the Barry 007 theme. It's one of my favorite classic Bond themes and is absolutely my favorite cue in From Russia with Love. It was a little overused in Thunderball, though. When Barry updated it for Moonraker, it was in the "lush romantic Barry" mode and really didn't suit the boat chase it was backing. But on album it's beautiful.

I too purely for nostalgia would like to hear the 007 theme used again. I agree that it's musical sensibility is from another time but perhaps a more aggressive rendition would suit the Craig Bond. There's only one chance left for this and it's in the hands of Hans. Wouldn't it be pure magic if it accompanied Bond smashing up Safin's lair?

Would love to see Barry's GunBarrell theme from the Living daylights to open up this film.

I was disappointed the OO7 theme was not used in SPECTRE. Since the theme, with the exception of Moonraker, has been used primarily in the films that had SPECTRE as the antagonistic organization.

I would certainly love to hear that theme too during the climatic final battle in No Time To Die.

Yes, would love to hear it used again.

Works - doesn't work - doesn't matter.

Bring it back.

The Daniel Craig movies owe nothing to the classic Bond movies so why should the score hark back to stuff from the 60s and 70s?

Yeah, I am sure there will be some "cool" techno version of the theme featuring loud electric guitars and similar crap.

Exactly this. The films have been utterly dreadful since the opening gunbarrel of Die Another Day, so I really don't want anything John Barry wrote 'resurrecting in the modern style'.

Of the five renditions of the 007 theme used I think this would be my order of preference:

1) Thunderball
2 Diamonds Are Forever
3) From Russia With Love
4) You Only Live Twice
5) Moonraker

I was always quite fond of the kind of "Mike Oldfield" style version by played by Franck Pourcel and Orchestra on the "James Bond's Greatest Hits" album which was pressed in 1974

A climactic action sequence is exactly the kind of use I'm suggesting for Barry's 007 theme...a last ditch, all is lost moment... and then against all odds, Bond comes through... something with the flavor of the expanded TO HELL WITH BLOFELD from the DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER score:

I thought 007 was a reference to the number of co-composers Zimmer was likely to use.
