Everybody and their grandmother is still going to call it 20th Century Fox.

Next Taco Bell will announce they are re-branding as "Bell".

So they’re essentially reverting back to the name of one of the studios that initially made up 20th Century Fox, interesting.

"Fox" has a negative connotation for many. That must have factored into the decision.

Full disclosure: Barbara Fox, ex-wife of William Fox III, was a dear friend. She was my first boss at a NYC not-for-profit, and we became friends. Then she was my landlady for a decade when I shared her Townhouse in Manhattan during the 1990's (I had the top floor separate apartment -- and she had the other three floors as a separate house/space). She passed in 2001, but was one of the most amazing individuals I've ever known. I still have her wedding album -- she and Bill were married at the Fox estate in Upstate New York where William T. Fox and his wife still lived. It was quite a "do" with the pre-wedding party starting in Manhattan at the Waldorf, I think. Then attendees were bused in private vehicles to the Estate -- and the wedding was held in the huge private cinema on the grounds of the Estate. The photos of the actual wedding participants were taken in front of the giant blank screen.
Amazing stuff! And, of course, there are photos of separate receptions held just for the staff of the Estate.

Barbara always used to say her name as, "Barbara Fox, as in 20th Century...". Alas those days are now going, going, gone.

And yes, I do have stories, all of which I could never ever share!

How, then, can they stand to have 85 years of Fox products still out there in the the market? Let the name purge begin.

Perhaps they've missed a trick. They could have rebranded and at the same time placated all the actresses complaining of sexist behavior in the film industry, by getting rid of the male fox and replacing with a female. Thus making it "20th Century Vixen".

If it helps put the FOX fanfare back on the Star Wars films I'm all for it.

Well, one bad decision can tarnish a legacy. Just ask the Rolling Stones.

Shouldn't this be in Non-Film Score Discussion?

I think Disney is counting on everyone’s just being relieved that they’re not calling the company 20th Century-Mouse.
