Merry Christmas Everyone,

Welcome to my 10th Annual Christmas season CD soundtrack giveaway!

The theme (no pun intended) of this year's contest is Classic TV Series music and shows.

To celebrate my tenth year it's my pleasure to offer three great collections of TV series music produced in recent years by La-La Land Records. All sets are new and still sealed, of course.

Those titles are.....

  • Land of the Giants.....50th Anniversary 4 CD Set

  • Mission: Impossible - The Television Scores.....6 CD Box Set

  • Star Trek - The Original Series.....15 CD Box Set

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like a chance to win one of these sets please leave a post on this thread (don't copy my original post) and follow these rules for my contest.

    1) Tell me which title(s) you are interested in. You may put yourself in the running for one, two or all three titles.

    2) Tell me which is your all-time favorite TV series (not limited to just the three listed above) or mini-series along with a brief explanation as to why. It can be a series from any era, genre or country. Your answer will not affect your chance of winning. It simply serves as your entry into my contest and may make for some interesting reading for all who participate.

    3) To participate you must have been a member of this message board for at least 30 days.

    4) Do not post YouTube videos, please.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The names of all participants will be printed on a slip of paper, placed into a large mixing bowl and drawn out one at a time for each title. This is as fair as any other method and makes it more fun for me!

I will accept entries until 8pm EST on Tuesday, December 10. The winning names will be posted on this thread at 10pm that evening.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Read This....

Please do not participate if your intention is to sell the CDs. I would be upset if I sent you one of these only to see you selling it on Ebay later. I want these sets to go to members who want to hear the music and keep it in their collections. OK?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's all, folks. Let the posting begin and I look forward to reading about your favorite show. Have fun with this contest. Good luck!

Wow, this is (as always) so wonderful of you to do!

So I already am a happy owner of the bigger Star Trek and Mission: Impossible sets and don't want to risk stopping someone else from enjoying them, but I'll gladly throw my hat in the ring for Land of the Giants, which I probably wouldn't get around to purchasing otherwise, but am still quite interested in!

My favorite TV show of all time is Babylon 5, despite its flaws. There are other shows that are perhaps objectively greater/less flawed/more perfect (TURN is the most recent one that comes to mind, for me) but Babylon 5 has long been my favorite and probably always will be.

    Thanks again.

    Yavar

My all time favorite television series is "Leave It To Beaver" because it's the one I identify with my childhood. Put my hat in for all three!

How generous of you! I'm most definitely interested in the Star Trek: TOS set.

It's hard to pick a favorite television series, but I have to say that "Star Trek: TOS" is among is my favorite. From the chemistry between the characters, excellent (mostly) plot elements, to the excellent music, it's a timeless classic. Plus, my family has fond memories of the series, and I'm proud to continue my family's legacy.

    Thanks for posting the contest.

Put my entry in for "Land of the Giants". I don't have any music yet from that series.

As for favorite series...I gotta go with Ron Moore's "Battlestar Galactica". He took an epic series, and reimagined it into another equally epic series. Timely, dark, gorgeous looking...BSG has it all. And, it holds up well today just as much as when it originally aired 15 years ago.

If you would like a chance to win one of these sets please leave a post on this thread and follow these rules for my contest.

    1) Tell me which title(s) you are interested in. You may put yourself in the running for one, two or all three titles.

"Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible". I honestly can't say I'd keep the third one, I'd probably trade it away.

Of the three listed: "Star Trek". I'm not sure what I can say about it that hasn't been said a bazillion times before. Not only it it just fun to watch, but while some TV series can be good fund to watch but have lackluster ("Mysterious Ways") or even awful/annoying scoring ("White Collar"), it's like the scoring (even the source cues) were meant for the show -- they just mesh so well.

But I have no singular favorite TV show over all, so I stuck with the three brought up.

This is an amazing gesture! Thank you very much.

My favourite TV scores are ones for mini-series.

Top of the TV scores goes to Maurice Jarre’s Jesus of Nazareth with a wonderful theme which perfectly captures the So. Of God and a beautiful score.

This is closely followed by Bill Conti’s epic North & South closely followed by QBVII and Masada by Jerry Goldsmith.

I am very interested in the Star Trek set but would be delighted and very grateful to receive anything in this generous contest.
    Merry Christmas!

    Would LOVE STTOS.

I guess COLUMBO would be number one because I can watch it over and over.
I just love the verbal chess match between COLUMBO and the murderer.
It's like listening to great music!
    Thanks!

Very cool. I couldn’t afford that Star Trek box and would love to own it.

Like a few others, my favorite TV show is Columbo. No question about it. I got hooked because it always came on A&E right as I got home from school.

Peter Falk is absolutely captivating in the role and it attracted some of the best guest stars of the era. And watching Falk and the other actors bounce off each other is just pure gold, especially with my favorite returning killer - Robert Culp. Their chemistry was superb. Same with Donald Pleasance.

And don’t even get me started on the score. It’s some of the best music ever composed for TV in my opinion.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

Wow, such a great give away, you are the best!

I like to choose for Star Trek - The Original Series,
and Mission: Impossible - The Television Scores

I was and still am a big fan of Airwolf; Not only for the great stories and the High-Tech Helicopter but the Music and specially the Main theme (Sylvester Levay) is to my opinion still one of the best tv themes ever made!

    Best of luck for everybody

I don’t have any of the three gifts, shipping costs are killing me... so I may have a chance to win at least one of them. Count me in for three!

My favourite TV series is Wonder Years, I watched it as a kid, then a teenager, and as an adult and loved it each time. Different perspectives for all the characters, the fun, the love, the sadness, the troubles you have it all in one family series. It’s simply Wonder-ful.

Thanks Adam for your generosity. I would love to have any of the three sets.

My favorite TV show? That's a tough one. Something I enjoyed when I was younger like Twilight Zone, Star Trek or Get Smart? Something recent like Breaking Bad or Stranger Things? I think I'll go with COLUMBO. I was introduced to the character through the late 80s/early 90s version but it's the "classic" version that I love now. It's the only box set TV series I own. Falk is terrific, the guest stars are great and the plots are quite clever.

Hell, throw my name in the running for all three (although the Trek set is a top priority).

My favorite TV show? Despite the gradual decline in quality in the later seasons (especially seasons 8-9) of the original run, I'll always have a tremendous fond spot for The X-Files, which was moody, spooky and engrossing in its prime.

Thank you so much for the generous offer!

    Generous as always Adam!

Put me in for the Mission Impossible set only. I own the others.

Favorite TV series? SO many good ones: BSG, 24, Lost, ST:TOS, Downton Abbey... I'm typically a guy who likes my shows dramatic and serious. But, honestly, I'd have to go with Seinfeld. Hardly a day goes by where I can't relate some absurd, inane or hilarious situation with a Seinfeld episode.

This is great you're doing this.

I'm going for the Land of the Giants box since I don't have it and I want someone else to have the others especially if they can't afford or have them.

    My favorite TV shows....that's easy.

Law & Order, Law & Order Criminal Intent.

Completely addicting and still the best shows anyone could watch because of the plot and totally binge addicting.

    Married With Children
Fun, fun and more fun...still!!! Easily bingeworthy and still hilarious!!! The fact that it is still on syndication after two decades tells you how great it is.

    The Wire
Tough, gritty and alot of fun. Also made stars of Idris Elba and Michael Kenneth Williams still one of the best shows HBO has ever made along with OZ.

    Tales From The Crypt
Great show still despite a lackluster final season and filled with stars as Director who made their debuts like Tom Hanks, and Arnold Schwarzenegger to go along with the likes of Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, and even producer Joel Silver and featuring endless stars who you would've never thought to be in or a horror based film or show. Still classic and campy.

Please enter me in your contest. I'm interested in all 3 prizes, I don't have them.

I have many favorite TV series. Wagon Train, nice stories and great music scores. Others: Rawhide, The Rifleman.

    Thanks for doing this!

Thanks so much for this offer.
I'm definitely interested in The Mission Impossible collection.

My Favourite TV series is and always will be Lost In Space. I was enthralled with this series as a child. The adventure, (especially the first season), the monster of the week, that catchy music, ( Wow did that lead to something!). Who didn't want to live in the Jupiter 2 or drive the Chariot. Much less have there own B9 model robot. A truly wonderful series which even now still has its charms.

    Thanks.

Wow, such a generous gesture. Thanks for the opportunity! I would like to take part in all three scores.

My favourite show is the newer BSG followed closely by Lost. I liked the mysteries in both of them, unfortunately both failed eventually in my opinion. It was fun while it lasted though. Both shows have incredible music too by McCreary and Giacchino. One extra show I have to mention is 90s anime Tanoshii Mumin Ikka which is based on Finnish children's books. That show was an integral part of my childhood and I still enjoy the episodes as an adult. Its music especially is very nostalgic to listen to nowadays.

Thanks yet again and good luck to everyone!

Hello! Thank you for doing this. I would love any of the three please. My favourite tv series is the Sweeney. It ran for four series. Great stories, clothes, cars and...fantastic music.

ALF! So sad that no YouTube links - because if you just listen, how it sounds in Russian, you'll understand why people still love him smile
