HUNTERS---trailer released for the Amazon Prime series about Nazi-hunters starring Al Pacino.

MICHAEL JACKSON---producer Graham King (BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY) has bought the biomovie rights to Michael Jackson from the Michael Jackson estate. The deal includes Jackson's music library. John Logan (GLADIATOR) will write the script.

STAR WARS---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy commented on George Lucas's unhappiness with the new STAR WARS movies released after Walt Disney bought Lucasfilm, “Personally, I’ve had a relationship with George going back to all of us meeting before making Raiders of the Lost Ark. So this is a long, 35-plus years that I’ve known George, and I continue to be very, very good friends with George. And I think there’s plenty of examples where people create something that is fundamental to who they are, where it’s difficult letting go and watching that become something different. So I think initially, that was difficult for George — I don’t think he anticipated how hard that would be.”
JJ Abrams also commented on Lucas and the new movies, “I’ve only had gratitude for George. It’s probably a complicated thing for him. To decide you’re going to sell this thing that you created, that was your baby, to anyone — that must be more complicated than signing a check and smiling about it. But he’s been incredibly gracious. He’s been super-generous.”
Abrams talked about Lucas giving his input into the three new movies, “And we’ve done nothing but try and adhere to some fundamental aspects of the story. It wasn’t a difficult thing to try and do. And again, he was really gracious. So I’m only grateful. Do I wish that [THE FORCE AWAKENS] had been his favorite movie of all time? Yes, I only wanted to do well by him. I would just say that I have nothing but profound respect for the guy and am still truly, even more so now, working on these movies in awe of what he created.”
Also, Rian Johnson commented on why so many STAR WARS directors have been fired, "I can’t speak to the experience that anyone else has had. I would caution that other people’s sets are like other people’s marriages. You think you know what’s going on with them, but the only thing that’s absolutely true is that you’re wrong. I can only speak to my experience, which was an absolute dream from top to bottom, beginning to end. From Kathy [Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy] to Bob Iger to J.J. [Abrams] to all the craftsmen."

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---Colin Trevorrow revealed his part of the script that was kept after he left the sequel, "I just asked Rian if he could include a little moment where Rey and Poe meet for the first time. They’re such beloved characters, it felt right for them to have some history in the next movie. I thought the way he did it was perfect.”
He added, “Bringing back the Emperor was an idea JJ brought to the table when he came on board. It’s honestly something I never considered. I commend him for it. This was a tough story to unlock, and he found the key.”

THE STAIRCASE---Harrison Ford will star in this tv miniseries based on the documentary about novelist Michael Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife after he claimed she died when she fell down the stairs.

BLACK ADAM---Dwayne Johnson said the Justice Society of America will be in the movie, "We’re also gonna introduce JSA in BLACK ADAM."

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET---the Wes Craven estate is seeking proposals for more movies and a HBO Max tv idea for the franchise. Spectrevision's Daniel Noah said earlier, “We’ve been in touch with the rights holders many times. It’s a real dream project for us to have a chance to make a film in that franchise. And like I said, we have a very specific take on it. I think it would be very surprising and exciting to remake the franchise."

TRIPLETS---Danny DeVito gave an update on the TWINS sequel starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eddie Murphy and himself, "As soon as we have what you call, this thing that we get. Actors get and directors get, it’s called a screenplay. (Laughs) There’s an idea and then there’s a screenplay so when that happens we’re gonna be rolling."

MARVEL COMICS---"Marvel Comics #1", published in 1939, recently sold for a record $1.26 million.

TRIVIA---in INDEPENDENCE DAY, two character actors are the fathers of famous actors. Robert Pine, who played President Thomas Whitmore's Chief of Staff, is the father of Chris Pine (STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, WONDER WOMAN). John Bennett Perry, who played First Lady Marilyn Whitmore's Secret Service agent, is the father of Matthew Perry (FRIENDS).

Yep, you were so in awe that your movies were carbon copies.
Lordy.

Whats with all the GL pandering by KK and JJ?

And JJ came up with the idea of bringing back the Emperor? What a shock, coming from Mr. Hack himself! Congratulations, Luke's success in defeating the Emperor by reforming his father is completely meaningless now.

Too many prominent characters never really die in Star Wars. It's like a prime time soap opera from the 1970's/1980's: If you didn't see the body, that person will come back.

Death in mainstream films and television series means pretty much nothing nowadays. It totally loses any meaning. If there aren't any lasting consequences then whats the point of the journey? IMHO it's really hurt the arts.

Except, I should say, Darth Maul, who got cut in half, so we saw the body, but turns out his species can heal.

CinemaSins voice: "He survives this."

Ooo, this is a new role for him. Who's gonna play the police Lieutenant obsessed with his capture?

They need to cast Stephen Tobolowsky (though he may be a bit too old now) as Duane Deaver, the bald, smug, incompetent blood-spatter "expert". Totally corrupt, fired for failures in another case, reinstated.

SCOTT M (OLDSMITH):

That murder occurred in my hometown. One of the DAs was the DA involved in the Duke Lacrosse scandal.

Robert Pine always popped up on telly when i was growing up. Never recalled his name though. Didn't realise he was Chris Pine's dad.
