I noticed on Blu-ray.com that it came out on Blu-ray after a 2-K scan in 2018, but so far, no one has reviewed it. Perhaps it will be in the 'Black Friday' sales, don't know. But has anyone seen this version? Specifically, John Archibald who may be one of it's most famous fans around here. (Or maybe he was just a fan of it's score, can't recall).

I've had this Blu-ray for a year, and the fact that that site hasn't reviewed it yet is frustrating (it apparently took them three years to review Criterion's Chimes at Midnight Blu-ray). The Blu-ray is a very good representation of the UCLA restoration of the uncut film. However, it does not include the shortened General Release version or overture (possibly because there were no prints containing it) and the only "extras" are a bunch of trailers for other historical epics distributed by Kino, including a very beat-up foreign trailer for Prince of Foxes.

Thanks for the info you've given. I didn't know there was an overture because I've seen the film only once, as a child who saw it on television (with commercials) in the 60's.

Yep, there was an overture with initial roadshow screenings (I’ve read there was also exit music, but that has yet to turn up). A few years ago, someone actually did a very good re-recording of the overture included at the link below which gives a tantalizing glimpse of how good a re-recording of the score could sound.

THAT overture sounds absolutely MAGNIFICENT! Thank you for the link; so if I do buy the Blu-ray, I'll sort of imagine it before I hit 'play'. It just struck me, are we 'allowed' to speak of film music on THIS side of the message board? 'The Lolipop Man' over on the other side of the board may shout out 'WRONG BOARD!'

Thanks Bob! After the reviews, I'm sold, putting the title in my cart and waiting for Black Friday. But even if the price doesn't move, I'm still going to get it. The information bits were really interesting, (Ward Bond in this?)

I wonder if the "Gothic Prelude" will convince Doug Fake at Intrada to start a kickstarter campaign for a "Joan Of Arc" World Premiere Recording? This is the first time I heard the Overture and its sounds great!!!
