The original album is not all that exciting. I will be interested to find out if the extra music is a revelation - as with Mancini's "Charade" - or if it simply offers more of the same.

Also, I'm very nervous about allowing Matt Monro into my home.

Not too long ago I finally bought the Quincy Jones cd set which included THE ITALIAN JOB and the audio was disappointing compared to that of the original soundtrack cd.

I'm really interested in what additional music is included in the upcoming expanded edition.

MCA-cd sounds pretty good, each track does hum out that flashy jazz taste bluesy colours - Matt Monroe starts out sounding quite silky with his vocals the only snag its too short, now fixed.

CINDYLOVER:

I wasn't buying from the UK dealer as I'm in the US, but was posting it as to what the price might be tomorrow.

My big question is if it is going to be a quick sell-out or if might remain around for a Quartet sale in the future.

Maybe it's an age thing, but is anyone else disappointed with this new remaster? To my old ears, the stereo image seems more compressed on the Quartet disc and certain instrumental details are less clear than on the MCA issue.

It's interesting to have the actual score as well, but the mono sound is a bit on the dull side and the best parts of the score are on the stereo album anyway.

A big plus for the Quartet CD, however, is the new cover and very informative booklet.
