I'm catching up via streaming a lot of films I'd missed in the past. Monty Python's 'THE LIFE OF BRIAN', was one. I remember people protesting the film in San Francisco when it arrived in, (I'm guessing), 1979? And I didn't know who Monty Python was and for whatever reason, never saw it. Until last week. I haven't laughed so much in a film for a very long time! It starts out like 'Ben-Hur', with the star in the sky guiding the 3 wise men, even the music evokes a 'Rosza feel'. Then the hilarity begins. The scene later on of the Roman Emperor with a lisp, (who doesn't realize he HAS a lisp), had me in stitches. He speaks of his good friend, 'Biggus', and even though the humor is juvenile, and aimed at elementary school boys minds, even realizing this, I couldn't stop laughing!

There's so many hilarious moments in the film. I remember the "outrage" at the time. Though it would be nothing compared to the "outrage" if it was released today! Glad you saw it before it gets banned and all copies are destroyed from human history.

Having done latin at school...i thoroughly enjoyed the centurion bollocking Brian for getting his grammar wrong on the slogan.

"What's this, then? 'Romanes Eunt Domus'? 'People called Romanes they go the house'?"

I also have never seen 'Monty Python and The Holy Grail'. The trailer looks funny, think I'll catch it this evening. But I still crack-up thinking of 'Brian'. And the actor who played the virgn mary in the opening nativity scene still makes me smile! What with the three wise-men accidentally going to the wrong stable with their gifts!

Yeah holy grail is superb.
The comedy was more python whereas brian was slightly more mainstream comedy.
Meaning of life is a bit shit though.

Try watching Carry On Up The Khyber if you want to see something that wouldn't be made today - or probably even shown on TV anymore for that matter.

I disagree. It's my favourite Python film.

BRIAN is classic.
The other two aren't particularly funny.

It wouldn't cause a ruffle if it was released today. The people it mocks are the last unprotected class.

Holy Grail is a classic and the best, followed by Brian. I didn't like what I saw of Meaning of Life.
