In the early 90s I drank a lot of the Mezzo Mix soft drink at a friend's place, it's basically cola mixed with orange. It has never been for sale in Norway, but now I just felt the urge to taste it again, so I ordered 24 X 0.5 L bottles from amazon.co.uk. £65 including shipping! I know, I'm crazy. But it's less than £3 pr bottle, so it's not THAT bad. Anyone here having tasted this? It's only for sale in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, at least under the Mezzo Mix name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezzo_Mix

While I try to cut back on sugary drinks I have the occasional craving for it. It was inspired by a drink called Spezi that was only available in the south of Germany at the time but was so popular that most restaurants in the country had it on their menus. As the original was not available the restaurants made it themselves by mixing Coca Cola with Fanta Orange. This probably convinced the Coca Cola company to market that themselves as a premixed product. It was introduced during the early 70s here and is one of the company's bestselling soft drinks. If you want to save some mone just buy a half liter bottle of Coca Cola and Fanta Orange and fill them into a liter bottle. This should get you not something similar but the exact product. This was the way the drink was introduced originally if I rember it correctly from my early childhood (half Coke/half Fanta). That's where the name Mezzo (= half) Mix originated from. Going to see The Irishman at the local cinema on sunday. I think I will have one there.

It's probably not an order I would make again though in a while!

We have Mezzo Mix at home and I drink it now and then (not every day or even every week). Then again, most supermarkets here in Germany carry it, so it's nothing special. It is basically Coca-Cola mixed with orange Fanta, so you can create it yourself if you want and your local store does not carry it. :-)
