WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

JURASSIC WORLD 3---Universal Pictures confirmed that Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern are returning for the latest sequel.

STAR WARS---composer John Williams said he thought Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia would become lovers in the original movie, "I saw them as two young people in the first film that I would never see again. And they seemed to be compatible. They had fun together. They did the action scenes together. And I figured, "Well, sooner or later, they will be lovers and they'll have children and you know, so I wrote a love theme for Princess Leia, not knowing for, like, two or three years that they were brother and sister. I'm not even sure when George (LAUGHS) told us. That was the second film, or the third [RETURN OF THE JEDI]. So I had to go back and write different themes for (LAUGHS) the various relationships that came into focus over time."

THE WALKING DEAD---Jeffrey Dean Morgan said the zombie series has enough material for at least three more seasons, "You don’t want to run it into the ground. Me personally, I’d say let’s go out on top. Let’s go out still being the number one show in the world. Whether or not that happens, I don’t know. I think if we just stuck with the comic book, we’ve still got another three years. We do deviate a lot, but I think there’s probably a good three years of material there."

THE COUNCIL---Will Smith stars in this Netflix biomovie about Harlem mobster Nicky Barnes who became a federal informant.

JOKER---Warner Bros. defended the movie after accusations that it glorifies violence, “Gun violence in our society is a critical issue, and we extend our deepest sympathy to all victims and families impacted by these tragedies. Our company has a long history of donating to victims of violence, including Aurora, and in recent weeks, our parent company joined other business leaders to call on policymakers to enact bi-partisan legislation to address this epidemic. At the same time, Warner Bros. believes that one of the functions of storytelling is to provoke difficult conversations around complex issues. Make no mistake: neither the fictional character Joker, nor the film, is an endorsement of real-world violence of any kind. It is not the intention of the film, the filmmakers or the studio to hold this character up as a hero.”

CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS---Michael Rosenbaum tweeted why he is not returning as Lex Luthor for the crossover, “Friends, many of you have tweeted and asked me about joining the Infinite Crossover (sic). I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I’ll just be straight up about this. WB called my agents Friday afternoon when I was in Florida visiting my grandfather in a nursing home. Their offer: No Script. No idea what I’m doing. No idea when I’m shooting. Basically no money. And the real kick in the ass ‘We have to know now.’ My simple answer was ‘Pass’. I think you can understand why. I hope this answers all of your questions.”

GREEN ARROW---untitled CW spinoff series underway starring Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Oliver Queen's daughter who is the new Green Arrow.

THIRTYSOMETHING---sequel tv series underway to the ABC series that ran from 1987-1991. The sequel focuses on the children, now in their thirties, of the original characters. The original cast of Ken Olin, Mel Harris, Patricia Wettig and others are hoped to be returning.

MALIGNANT---new James Wan horror movie underway which may be based on Wan's graphic novel, MALIGNANT MAN. Annabelle Wallis stars.

TRIVIA---in the B sci fi movie BEGINNING OF THE END, giant grasshoppers are invulnerable to tanks, cannons, flamethrowers and machine guns as they head to Chicago. But later, the movie's hero, scientist Dr. Ed Wainwright (Peter Graves), easily kills a behemoth grasshopper with a single submachine gun.

Yes (LAUGHS), it's not as though George Lucas (LAUGHS) was making all this shit up as he went along (CHORTLES).

The craptacular FALLEN KINGDOM killed the franchise for me.

It was jaw-droppingly insane how much of it was lifted from JP2.

I discussed the many reasons it sucked once, not gonna do it again.
There's a YT video " Everything wrong with..." that nails it pretty well!

Both Jurassic Park reboots suck. Along with the Disney Star Wars reboots, and the Terminator reboots, and the Alien reboots, etc, etc, etc. I feel sorry for kids nowadays. All they get are shi*tty reboots, hardly anything new, inventive that's not creatively bankrupt.

As far as Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern coming back. Who cares. Been there, done that.

The bots serve a good purpose---they resurrect old threads that were forgotten, but now can be discussed again.
I just wonder what those bot links lead to.

Of course Williams was not alone here. The very first Star Wars expansion novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye, commissioned by Lucas and penned by Alan Dean Foster, picked up and ran with the idea of Luke and Leia as lovers as well. This is probably why Splinter of the Mind's Eye was recently declared non-canonical.

Personalized spam. Nice to see them put some effort into their tomfoolery.

I’ll second that. It’s always fun to read old, forgotten threads and opinions that are a few years old.

Grasshoppers of unusual size? I don't believe they exist.
