Richard Carpenter has made a new album of Carpenters classics at London's prestigious Abbey Road Studios.

He has teamed up with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a new album, to be released via Universal. The album will feature his late sister Karen Carpenter's iconic vocals placed on top of brand new orchestral arrangements.

Edit: Hmmm, this article is a year old. I obviously just found out about this now. Apparently the whole album is on YT.

Karen's voice is so missed. She was an angel. Richard was an underrated talent as well.

This was released in the UK last year. I bought it before Christmas. Or is there a second album?

No problem. I wasn't that taken with it to be honest. Don't think it adds much to what is already there. Also the orchestra seems a bit removed in some tracks I thought. I'm not keen on these albums of old songs with new orchestral backing, and I see Rod Stewart has one coming out soon too.

Thanks for the comments. I'll still pick this up out of curiosity. I see there are a few other albums of theirs I never picked up. I'd like to be a completest when it comes to the Carpenters.

I don't have sound on my computer at work, so I'll have to check this out when I get home. I absolutely love The Carpenters.

There's a BEATLEZ one also. Not sure if it's been released yet.

There's that, and if I'm not mistaken, Leopold Stokowski conducted a rousing tribute to the Bee Gees.

I'm sampling this on YT. I like it. Richard pretty much starts each song with a mini overture. I absolutely love his orchestrations. He should've gone into film scoring. The clarity of the original vocals are amazing as well.
