Incredible story about locating those elements. It's situations like that one that have me hopeful there are many more gems who have survived supposedly harrowing encounters or fates.

So this is one of the two Sony Music titles that Intrada managed to sneak through before the door closed? I’m not sure but I think not. The album is owned by Mainstream whereas the film tracks were licensed from Sony Pictures, not Sony Music. I knew that if this mysterious 60s favorite of Doug’s was not Goldsmith’s Hour of the Gun, it would be a Bernstein or a Barry based on the clues given. I’m glad to find out it’s King Rat, one of Barry’s best of that era! Yavar

And Intrada has been doing a series of great reissues/expansions from original first generation elements licensed from Mainstream ever since! (Just check the small print on the back of something like Stagecoach/The Heroes of Telemark; no mention of Sony Music I believe.) Yavar

This is good news! I have the Sony Legacy release of this from the mid 90s. Does this one have any more music?
As I understand, this is that mysterious 60s album, about which Roger hinted earlier this year. And as Jon Burlingame said at FB (and as you can hear at latest podcast) - "Doug Fake got the stereo and mono KING RAT for a re-release, only to discover the "mono" version was actually JB's original, previously unreleased, tracks from the movie itself! So the new edition contains not only the 1965 album but also the score as it appears in the film." Cool, so my mono King Rat on Mainstream has the film tracks, but the stereo CD has the re-record? The stereo album was rerecorded and rearranged. Like the Mancini lps of the era it contained music not in the film.
