Craig Lysy of Movie Music UK has posted a review of the new recording today:

https://moviemusicuk.us/2020/09/14/king-of-kings-miklos-rozsa/

Craig Lysy has written colorfully of Rozsa scores before. Here's a quote from his review of Intrada's superb recording of Ivanhoe:

"As he departs to torture Ivanhoe, he demands that Rebecca greet him when he returns willingly and with passion in her breasts."

Yeah, well, Lysy should know that, in this context, it's metaphorical and singular, breast, i.e. Rebecca's heart, not literal breasts which, in any event, aren't capable of any passion on their own.

Incredible! As close to a real time sequencing of descriptive words to the continuity of incidental music recalled from memory as I can place or recall. Good job.

Wow! Those are suitably epic cue by cue notes to rival the official ones by Frank K DeWald. Well done Craig!

Yes, it's not just a review, but like additional supplementary notes to the album. I am amazed at the depth. Well, the album deserves it.

I'm glad you told us that. It's important information. smile

May I also add I prefer them in pairs.

I tried reading the review and suddenly realised it doesn't matter that it's so dense that doing a one-off now is ok. Because when I get this album, I'll be bloody glad it's there.

King of Kings is possibly my favourite of Rozsa's scores, and I'm saying that as someone who admires the talent, but hasn't got that many recordings. But I do remember getting the Silva Screen compilation to hear a bigger orchestral version of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and really more looking forward to the King of Kings stuff.

I've loved the 'main theme' of King of Kings ever since an uncle played it along with many other epic film themes on two LP records that many on here are familiar with. Along with The Vikings it's always stuck in my mind and therefore I shall be buying it when it's generally available. So thanks to all who helped make it possible.

That may have been the intention, and for all i know it still is, but if it took longer to mail out to the backers then its general release may be delayed.

Let's face it, it's done and will be eventually available to us all. So, no panic but a great thanks to all those who funded this lovely project.

Is there any update as to when this will be available to the general audience? wink

Well, I as a supporter of the project received my copy finally from England. I've just started the Disc1 and I have goosebumps. The mix is astonishingly good as are the performances.
