I got a very nice review from Pauline Kayland [Kael] who noted what a devoted actor I was to go through it, with eating the fly and all.
So there you have it. The fly just flew away, there was no bug in the mouth but those cheeky editors took a few frames out just to give us something to talk about years later."

Blomkamp just needs to get bumped off a Predator film next, then he'll have not done Aliens, Robocop or Predator.

That's an amusing anecdote about the fly. Cheeky editors.

I saw RAIDERS many times on it's original run in theaters. When the fly crawls on his lip all the guys laughed and all the girls went "Eiwwwwwww!!" (is that how you spell that expression?)

1981 was 38 years ago, and yet I have never seen Paul Freeman in anything but Raiders.

Maybe he did a lot of British TV? Off to IMDb to check...

Edit: Nope! Never saw him in anything but Raiders. He has done loads of TV, though.

Nazi archeologist? I thought he was a French archeologist who was working for the Nazis.

He was a Frenchman working for the Nazis, so he was a Nazi archaeologist.

If the movie was set in 1944 and Belloq was working for the Free French or Americans, I was have said he was an Allied archaeologist.

Thanks. I knew that, but I always figured the Belloq character as more of a mercenary, only interested in his own personal ends, not ideology.

Belloq's interest would have been archaeological rather than political. Seeing as it was 1936, he would have been involved with the Nazis because they had the resources to find the Ark, and not for any ideological reasons.

Had it been after the German conquest of France (1940), Belloq could have been a Vichy archaeologist. However, it is established--by Belloq--in the great bar scene between Belloq and Jones that both men are opposite sides of the same coin and not political whatsoever.

I hate that whoever's controlling MaxB's typing thoughts has now turned him into just a regular 'run of the mill' nerd frown

big grin - Same here - it was a highlight of watching it to listen to folks' reactions.

I think we all can agree the monkey was a Nazi.

Don't know of the stuff Max B. and jackfu posted, but I haven't seen a non-Belloq Paul Freeman performance.

I haven't seen that monkey in anything outside of Raiders, either. Spielberg's a real career killer.

If you don't believe me, ask the kid who played Odd Job in Temple of Doom.

Odd Job? Temple of Doom was a Bond prequel, too? Fascinating insight, Phelps. Dragon needed to include that info.
