I keep wishing for a CD release of this beautiful score one day.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I really doubt this score will be released physically someday. I'm therefore afraid you'll have to stick to the digital album.

By the way, does anyone know if Andrea is busy working on any soundtrack or any concert piece? It indeed seems to me I didn't hear of anything new from him for ages! Or am I wrong?

Laurent, sorry can't help you there.

Going back to 'Ciao America'....It would make a great future 'Quartet' release....if only ?

In 2018, Andrea Morricone scored a Czech film, "72 Hours in Bangkok" and in 2017 he scored a German documentary, "Unbroken Ties." In addition to these, according to IMDB, he's currently attached to three films that are in pre-production.

I think he's an excellent composer, leaps and bounds ahead of most working film composers. He had an official website which is now offline (http://www.andreamorricone.it/) but when I visited the site earlier this year I listened to his concert music, which was excellent & it seems like that's been his main focus in recent years. Hopefully his website will be back up soon so others can check it out.

And yes, "Ciao America" is great.

Yes Dylan, I've seen those obscure titles credited to Andrea on ImdB. We don't know for sure if they contain original music or not. Anyway, it's been a while since his name has not been associated to a more significant project. It seems as a whole that his career in the US didn't really take off. And he doesn't seem to get any assignments in Italy either...

Regarding the legendary layered strings - courtesy of his illustrious father! - you can spot them prominently in Andrea's score to LA LUNA FREDDA, as early as 1997. Didn't find any excerpts from this score on YouTube but I highly recommend it (the CD has been released in Japan).

Laurent, 'La luna fredda' (the cold moon) is indeed a very beautiful score....Ennio's "influence" is very much in evidence.

Another "overlooked" soundtrack by Andrea is 'Liberty Heights' from 1999....

Liberty Heights is an absolute gem! One of the rare scores where every single track is great. Anyone who loves the Morricone style and not familiar with this score should go and immediately get a copy!

Can anyone help, I have a F.Y.C. promo CD of 'Liberty Heights'

Does that mean the score was nominated or just "considered" for an 'Oscar' ?

Thanks.

It was just considered, not nominated.
