This is one of my all time favorites, I think it's tied with RAIDERS for my favorite INDIANA JONES film. It won the Oscar for Sound Effects Editing too. What do you guys think of it?

The best Indy film, in my opinion.

I don't think anything can top the freshness and energy of Raiders. but this one captures the sense of fun and is my second favorite of the series. There's some great stuff in there.

It's a lot of fun. I love the male bonding and I am also a sucker for ANY movie where a son teams up or reconciles with his father.

Frank Marshall thinks it's the best one. So do I!

The film is magnificently made (and scored) but it's my least favorite of the 1980's trilogy though I certainly do enjoy watching it.

The film has a certain flatness to it and I always get the impression that Spielberg's heart just wasn't in it. The film also (pardon the pun) goes off a cliff after the tank chase. The end sequence is rather perfunctory and uninvolving. Compare that with Temple of Doom's exhilarating last 35 minutes.

That said, oddly enough, I wouldn't change a thing about it. It's still fun.

To be honest I didn't like this film on first viewing. But it had more to do with my preconceived expectations. After a second viewing it grew on me a lot and is indeed a fun film. Second to Raiders though.

Hi solium! You have to admit THE LAST CRUSADE has the most heart of any film in the series. With the father son relationship.smileAnd I love the Grail theme, which I think, is also Connery's theme.

For me, the search for the grail is.much more engaging than the Ark - which I never heard of before RAIDERS.

RAIDERS has greater peaks but LC is much more consistent.from start to finish.
And its the best of the scores!

The first three INDIANA JONES films play like the first three STAR WARS films to me.
The first is the freshest and most exciting/exhilarating.
The second is the darker, more adult themed exploration (and took some backlash from critics/fans at the time).
The third is an apology film for the second, covering similar ground as the first one and adding a warmer/cosier feel, but suffering terribly as a result.

I love the grail theme and yes the film has a lot of heart which is something that draws me into a film. The reason why I didn't like it at first was because I was taken aback by Connery's performance. I'm so used to him playing strong, noble, stoic characters I was put off by bumbling somewhat senile Sr. Jones. On additional viewings I was able to better understand and except the character and performance.

Connery's character wasn't senile, but Marcus Brody sure was! What the hell happened?!? I adored Marcus in the first film, but mourned his decline in Last Crusade.

The best Indy film, in my opinion.

Ditto, but I feel that way about Jurassic Park III, too. 3rd film's a charm.

He knew what his dumb-ass son didn't: that Jenny Flex was a Nazi, but Junior was too busy thinking with his own "junior" and as a result was too dumb to notice.
