STAR TREK---Quentin Tarantino said his STAR TREK movie will be like PULP FICTION in outer space, “I will say one thing about STAR TREK that I’ve been waiting for someone to bring up. I don’t know if I’ll do it or not. I’ve got to figure it out, but Mark [L. Smith] wrote a really cool script. I like it a lot. There’s some things I need to work on but I really, really liked it. I get annoyed at Simon Pegg. He doesn’t know anything about what’s going on and he keeps making all these comments as if he knows about stuff. One of the comments he said, he’s like ‘Well, look, it’s not going to be PULP FICTION in space.’ Yes, it is! [laughs hard]. If I do it, that’s exactly what it’ll be. It’ll be PULP FICTION in space. That PULP FICTION-y aspect, when I read the script, I felt, I have never read a science fiction movie that has this sh*t in it, ever. There’s no science fiction movie that has this in it. And they said, I know, that’s why we want to make it. It’s, at the very least, unique in that regard… But there is a gangster element to what we’re doing with the Star Trek thing that works out pretty good.”
Also, Tarantino said he wrote scripts for Leonardo DiCaprio's fictional Western tv series in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, “Two things I had in mind that I wanted to work on (after), and I did, during that period of time. I wrote a play and I wrote five episodes of a TV series. It’s BOUNTY LAW….I ended up starting to really like the idea of Jake Cahill, as a character. I really started loving those half hour ’50s Western scripts. The idea that you could write something like 24 minutes, where there was so much story crammed in those half hour shows, with a real beginning and a middle and an end. Also it was kind of fun because you can’t just keep doubling down and exploring. At some point, you’ve got to wrap it up. I really liked that idea. I’ve written five different episodes for a possible BOUNTY LAW black-and-white half hour Western show.”
He said he is not sure what he will do with the scripts, but he doubts DiCaprio would star in it, “If he wants to do it that would be great. I’m not planning on that but I have an outline for about three other episodes. So I’ll probably write about three other episodes and then just do it. Direct every episode. They’re a half hour long. I wouldn’t mind doing it for Netflix but I’d want to shoot it on film. Showtime, HBO, Netflix, FX. But I also like the fact that I built up this mythology for BOUNTY LAW and Jake Cahill.”

STAR TREK: PICARD---showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michael Chabon said the series will be in a serialized format like STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and not in an episodic format like STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. They said retired Picard will travel into outer space, but necessarily as a member of Starfleet. They also said NEXT GENERATION original cast members could have cameos on PICARD.

THE LITTLE MERMAID---Javier Bardem is in talks to play King Triton in the Walt Disney live-action remake movie. Kenneth Mars provided the voice for King Triton in the 1989 animated movie.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.---ABC announced the upcoming Season 7 will be the last season.

GAME OF THRONES---the series had a record 32 Emmy nominations, but Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen and Carice van Houten had to submit and pay $225 for their Emmy nominations after HBO and the producers chose not to nominate them.

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE---director Tim Miller said Arnold Schwarzenegger returning as the T-800 Terminator will be, “very different”.

WESTWORLD---co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan said Season 3 will be less confusing, “This is season is a little less of a guessing game and more of an experience with the hosts finally getting to meet their makers."

EISENHORN---Frank Spotnitz (THE X-FILES, THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE) is developing a live-action tv series based on the WARHAMMER 40,000 novel/game series.

ME, THE MOB AND THE MUSIC---biomovie underway based on the Tommy James autobiography which focuses on his days with Tommy James and the Shondells and his relationship with mobster Morris Levy.

THE HEAVENS---Amazon tv series underway about a troubled young woman who finds a deadly weapon that belonged to a long-vanished empire.

ICBM---movie underway about a Seattle family that must survive after a nuclear attack and the ensuing chaos.

SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT---Netflix cancelled the series.

GOSSIP GIRL---HBO Max revival series underway which follows a new group of girls.

TRIVIA---in STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, Jack Palance had to drop out of the Chancellor Gorkon role due to a schedule conflict (or he wanted too much money or he was hesitant about the role) to appear in CITY SLICKERS, for which he won an Academy Award as Curly Washburn.

Jack Palance dropped out of STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY to appear in his Academy Award-winning role of Curly Washburn in CITY SLICKERS.

David Warner replaced Palance as Chancellor Gorkon in THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY.

Oh, yeah? Now listen, sweetheart. The Federation's moving in, taking over. You play ball, we'll cut you in.

Yes, Quentin, that's exactly what we Trek fans have been waiting for.
roll eyes

Pegg may not be the best custodian of Trek, but he has a far greater perception of its spirit of it than you ever will.
I like some of your movies but you seem to be a bit of a cretin, here.

He always has been a cretin. I don't like his films, but am willing to give his take on Trek a shot. We shall see. It's probably all talk. Again, we shall see.

Star Trek Beyond got closer to the spirit of Trek.
I don't always like Pegg, he has a fidgety quality that can be rather annoying.

But Beyond was a decent Trek film, moreso than Into Darkness

I haven't seen the slightest scrap of information compelling enough to convince me this whole "Tarantino does Star Trek" is any more than just Hollywood scuttlebutt.

Yeah, that's true.
Tarantino is probably just spouting so as to get the real fanatics into a massive wind-up, just for the larfs.

I can't believe Solium hasn't expressed his ' outrage' at the MERMAID remake!

IP holders seem to think trolling the fan-base is good business. Don't know if that's true or not but I think we've seen a pattern the last 12 months.

I loved STB. It is my favorite of the Bad Robot Trek films. It captured the fell of the series, finally got Kirk right and still kept the style of the modern action blockbuster. Fun film all around.

Don't like the fact that Star Trek has sucked for over twenty-five years? Do what I do, and stick with the classic, original TV series, and you won't be disappointed.*

*Large swaths of the second season and the entirety of the third season excluded

Really didn't see anything to like in "Beyond". Shredding the Enterprise apart defied all sense of physics. Spock cursing like a sailor, Kirk on a motorbike (mimicking the Great Escape!), a generic villain and the worst score in the reboot franchise.
