I never saw the original ‘Dune’ movie, so I’m coming at this in a fresh way, just from the book. I have to do it, and Chris [Nolan] understands I have to do it. Especially since he loved the books. Just trying to distance himself from any comparisons to the Toto score. I wish I hadn't. I saw Dune in the theater and knew nothing about it before hand. I'm not holding my breath though. that would be nice, and it would be nice if Nolan could study how films can truly be spotted, and not covered in music from start to end, sledgehammer style, making his points for him with giant musical exclamation points.
