I would be all over this if they still had copies of Basic Instinct.

I felt extra festive today (given its summer and all!) so I ordered Snøfall and A Christmas Carol big grin lol!

Both are great titles! You'll never regret about buying them. wink

Thanx! I'm excited! I watched Snøfall two years ago (or 3)? when it aired here in Norway and I remember it had some good score moments.

I havent watched the 1984 A Christmas Carol much, (I'm a massive Scrooge (1970) fan!) but I will give it a second watch close to Xmas and then visit the album wink

Strange thing is that last summer when LLL had a major sale I also ended up buying two Xams albums (Home Alone 1 and 2) lol!

One CD is preventing you from ordering?! Broaden your scope.

I don't like bragging (well, whom I try to cheat? - of course I like it big grin ) - but my package from Quartet was shipped several minutes ago. And I placed my order only yesterday! Wow.
Now I'm waiting for my Rota "quartet", plus another 3 great scores.

I never received a shipping notice for either of my two orders. One placed within hours of it going live on Friday and then another on Saturday.

But my package showed up yesterday- both orders combined as I'd hoped they'd be.
Last years speed blew me away and this year was similarly on point.
Given how much shipping for all packages, especially larger, heavier ones, has gone up in the last few years the free shipping threshold here is VERY generous IMO.

Unfortunately, more than half the cases showed up with busted hubs or broken covers. I don't blame Quartet. It happens. Just a little frustrating. Fortunately none of the ones I've opened so far are scratched because of it.

Off the bat, I can see there is one title I probably should have continued to pass on. Most of the rest that I've listened to have been worthwhile, and I could see my appreciation rising the more familiar I become with them.

I was initially regretting impulse ordering things like Snøfall last year, but that's actually turned out to be one of my most played titles these last twelve months. Fun score that fully lives up to it's product description.

My package just arrived the DHL across the street a few minutes ago. Already have it, and everything arrived as ordered. Feels like 41 degrees CELCIUS here today - which is 106F for you USA folks. But it sure feels like XMAS.

!!!!THANK YOU QUARTET!!!!

Yesterday I received my order. Since these were all box-sets or double CD's (not easy to replace) I am happy that nothing got broken or damaged. El Hombre y la Tierra (Antón García Abril) is even better than I hoped, much better in fact. As it says in the booklet, the entire series is rife with masterpieces, both in terms of melodic construction and orchestration. There is such a wealth of wonderful themes, I can very much recommend this set to anyone not familiar with this composer. I didn't know Abril at all but I'm a fan of natural history programs like the Attenborough ones. I heard the sample of 'Hombres a caballo' and that 'sold' the set for me. But today after listening through the whole set I was so pleased I ordered this. An enormous amount of work went into producing it, but what a beautiful result. Thanks a lot to all involved!

Will there be a Quartet sale this year? Last time they had a sale was in April of 2020. Or, that's the last time I ordered direct from them, at least. I thought they had a yearly sale.

I couldn't find the thread for the 2020 sale, or I'd have bumped that one. Not in July-August as usual due to (as I recall) Quartet attempting to bump up low sales due to the pandemic.

Found...

The sales in the past have usually been prior to them closing for vacation in August.

One thing I noticed after last years sale- quite a few of the back catalog titles remained at their sale price (or even lower) when it was over.

Many were still priced as "on sale" going into last month.

Man, I have picked up some truly incredible stuff in those sales. Titles and composers I never would have known otherwise, that are now among the all-time favorite scores in my collection.
Love this label.

As Quartet is on vacations now, it's probably clear, that there will be no sale this year frown
Bit sad, as for international customers this sales are always welcome event - as it's always nice to save some $$$ on shipping(but we knows that they are not so good for labels themselves).
But from the other hand, we all understand that due this pandemic, it's more important to save our labels alive.
Maybe next year (or even earlier? smile )

Hi Folks

The folks at quartet deserve a hassle free break - what with the covid business and the brexit hassle.

Congratulations to them for continuing their first class service at this challenging time.

First class in every department!

Regards

CC

I have to echo your sentiments there, I picked up titles and composers I'd never heard of before in their sale section last year. I sampled them on Spotify first though, just to be safe!

In case anyone is wondering, they still have 34 items in their "Special Offers" section, with most titles only €5.95!
Titles I would recommend in that batch (purely my taste, I'm sure they are all worthy) are:

Elcano & Magallanes (Joseba Beristain)
Super Lopez (Fernando Velázquez)
En las estrellas (Iván Palomares)
Snøfall (Henrik Skram)
Plan de fuga (Pascal Gaigne)
The Similars (Edy Lan)
Les Deux Amis / E la Chiamano Estate (Philippe Sarde)

For those that can't be found on Spotify, there are samples on the website too.
