I mainly know him from films I watched growing up. Elephant Man, Krull, Young Sherlock Holmes and then, these past years, in the Yorkshire based soap opera Emmerdale. Anyway, 91 is a good innings. He was a proper old fashioned British thesp. If Rip Torn can have two RIP threads, old Freddie deserves one.
I noticed him first in Man who haunted himself. Then i recall him again in Juggernaut ("cut the blue wire!") And a kids thriller called Children of the stones- which i loved in 1977!
Been in so many things, just about all series in the 70s, from the protectors to Hazell to van der valk.
