I know people hated 4, I enjoyed it, but I think Spielberg wants to make up for it with a great final entry. I think we should give him a chance. I'm looking forward to it.

On this one I have to say no. No one enjoys the first three films more than I do but you have to know when to hang it up. Ford is just too old for the part (even his chin scar is wrinkled) and Spielberg doesn't have it in him to make a great film anymore.

Would this one take place in the late sixties at the time of Woodstock and the Vietnam War? Ugh.

Sorry, Henry. I don't mean to diss your thread. If it gets made I'll wait for a used DVD copy to watch it at home.

I've never been a fan of the IJ franchise and it's hardly surprising that I'm less than enthusiastic about a 5th entry. Oh, I enjoyed #1 ... at least until the desert chase sequence when I realised I was bored ... and, initially, I liked #2 more (until a subsequent TV broadcast). I never took to #3 - I recall reading an interview given by Harrison Ford, at the time of its release, in which he states that the IJ premise was ended/over by #2 and that they needed something to make #3 viable: enter Sean Connery.

My son suggested I did not bother watching #4 but I bought the DVD ... the only way I managed to watch it through (from the time they escape with John Hurt) was by standing and walking around the room. On two prior attempts I had fallen asleep ...

I know this franchise has a phenomenal following and I hope the fans get a film they will enjoy (as a JB007 fan I know how disappointment strikes when the makers produce a lousy one) but bringing Mr. Ford back into this iconic (40th anniversary) role aged late-70s smacks of commercialism gone mad. Perhaps IJ will now be the Denholm Elliott / Brody role with some youngster doing all the action.

Unknown title ... perhaps Indiana Jones and the CGI? smile

It would be nice if they can make a another good one, but to be honest, the last one I truly loved was Temple of Doom (I know I'm probably in the minority on that). 3 and 4 just left me cold, so I'm not actually holding out any real hope of anything spectacular with 5... frown

I definitely am, Henry. I share your sentiments exactly! Can't wait for another one, and I don't give a monkey's toss about all the tired jokes about Ford's age. I also think 4 is much better than its reputation, although it's still the weakest of the films.

Have you guys not paid attention to the digital de-aging technology as displayed in recent Marvel movies? I keep telling people, it no longer matters how old Harrison Ford is in real life - it has now become possible to have him in a movie that's a prequel to RAIDERS....

De-aging the protagonist for the entire movie's duration would add tens of millions to the budget. Not only is it a bad idea that would fool no one, but it would be financial suicide.

That tech would be good for flashbacks and so on, but I'd prefer it if they just shot it as is for the duration. There are any number of ways to write a screenplay that accounts for Ford's age. For example, I dream of a less action-heavy INDY film that is closer to the YOUNG INDY series in tone and style.

I like the character and I like Ford, but really Steven Spielberg should better spend his time on other movie projects

De-aging technology is weird looking and that's hardly a solution because the "man" is old, not just the face. His voice and body language would tell a different story. Spielberg is passed his action flic prime.

I can report extreme under-excitement, apathy plus, but then I hardly go to the cinema these days. First one, great, lots of fun. I didn't like the second one, the third is very enjoyable. The forth is a steaming pile of rancid shit (worrying that Jaws is still Spielberg's best film). So, er...they can do what they like.

Perhaps it will be Son / Trail / Curse of ... with Harrison Ford in an armchair reciting some of his experiences using clips and out-takes ...

I don’t think de-aging a character for an entire film is out of the question; look at Nick Fury in Captain Marvel.

I’m not saying they *should* just that I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried.

(To answer OP’s question, I’m not looking forward to it but would happily watch it on video. I’ll inevitably be suckered into a theatre by my less discerning friends. smile )

Am I excited about it? Absolutely not. I didn't see the 4th film, either.

Why? Because I still have affection for the character, and do not want to stain the memory of how entertaining that first film was, even if the entire franchise is, like Star Wars, a bunch of empty-headed nonsense. Great escapist adventure, but nonsense.
