Robert Dorian, who presented the opening remarks on classic feature films on A.M.C. (American Film Classics) before they overhauled their format and started airing original series, has died at age 85.

He was a nice presence.

He was to AMC (original full-length movie presentations) what Robert Osborne was to TCM.

I miss him and the early days of AMC. According to his obit, "In 1998, AMC began inserting commercials into the films and then broadened its focus beyond features, eventually leading to original series like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Dorian left the network in 2001."

I don't think I've watched a single thing on AMC since Dorian left.
